airwave has made some of my most favorite tracks ever, so im not going to start slagging him off or anything, just gonna make a point of saying maybe he should have been more careful with the tracks if he didnt want anyone to hear them before the album is released..

its not as if they are vinyl rips, they are just liveset rips, if he's gonna moan about that then i think he is being a bit petty, and should wake up and smell the coffee.. ppl will buy his album/singles off the album, because who wants a shitty liveset rip when u can get vinyl rips?

i think a lot of artists just havent a clue about mp3's, and how if it wasnt for mp3's trance wouldnt be anywhere near as big as it is. i would say trance/general electronica is by far the most popular music on the net, and mp3 has had a lot to do with that. mp3's shouldnt be veiwed as an obstacle, it should be veiwed as an ally. it could mean ppl dl ur tracks, and think 'fuck me i need that tune on vinyl' or sumthin, when before u might not have even heard about the track!

just to add... to those ppl who are flaming airwave for wanting some money... u cant make music for free, he needs at least some money to pay the label back the money that was advanced to him for the album. plus its nice to be able to feed urself at the end of the day

is it a crime for a trance producer to get a wage..?

Thumbs up

thanks tu_face.

here here or is it hear hear? lol.

i buy stuff that i download. i support the need for artists to make money because they are contributing to the world in ways far richer than money making organizations. i would rather give my money directly to the artist... i have a feeling it is the labels that are making the money...

well all things have thier place and i sympathize with airwave... i would be the same. but dont fatigue... you can mix like only you can and for that you should create ur personal take on these tracks.

cheers and atb, jc

sad to read that he's so affected by this.

50% of the songs are old, and available on the net, and have been that for ages. (he should know about this, or else he is stupid imo...)

i dont think this is reason enough for making a public statement as he did, because as tu_face and others have mentioned before me, electronic music wouldn't have been even close to where it is today without mp3.

normally everthing starts with mp3's these days, and then it developes to addiction, and you reach the point where you actually do want to support the producers and buy their stuff (vinyls/cds/etc).
not everybody is feeling it this way or reaching this point, but im sure many are..

im 100% sure on that i wouldnt even have known about 3/4 of the dj's/producers i know of today if it wasnt for mp3's, and im not probably the only one.

i think in this world of fame and fortune people are forgetting one thing.. music is meant to be enjoyed.

if someone is dissapointed at the fact their are people listening to their music and thinking they are not profiting as much as they could be then i find that sad.

on the other hand.. if the guy wanted to launch his album fresh onto the shelves so to speak and everyone had already heard all the tunes months before the release, of course he has reason not to be happy.

on a sidenote.. if it wern't for mp3s and the internet i would have had no way of hearing all the great trance out there!.

fuck all this bashing of l-vee, how would any of you guys feel if that is what you do for a living to pay for all your shit, and everyone just gets it for free, you wouldnt make as much as you could have. you guys are thinking of it from your perspective, and when any situation happens, you have to look at it from both sides, sure you are getting free music, but you look at the producer, who got fucked over because many people are too cheap to buy cds, or vinyls, vinyls i kind of understand cuz if it's good it usually gets sold out anyways. but that is beside the point. just think if you had your debut album, and got fucked over, you wouldnt be too happy would you?
i know i wouldnt be
anyways late

What I want to know is how the hell an album that wont even be released for another few months, that isnt even finished has ended up on the web? Sounds like either him or his label made a major fuckup and somehow let it get leaked.

Honestly I dont see why hes so worked up about it. If he made some brand new tunes just for that album that managed to get out, I can understand how he would be upset. But I wouldnt get so worked up as to consider not finishing the album. Sounds like hes making music with his wallet, not with his heart. Fuck, if I was him I would be flattered people were downloading and enjoying something I created. A few days after the album is released it will be all over the internet anways, theres nothing that you can really do to stop it. So why not benefit from it??? You cant buy publicity like that! I live in Georgia, far far from any decent record store that sells any trance CD that doesnt "INCLUDE SMASH HITS FROM IAN VAN DAHL, DARUDE, AND ALICE DEEJAY!!!" Not to mention trance is never ever played on radio stations around here. MP3's are the ONLY exposure I can get to new music. Hell, I wouldnt even know about trance if it wasnt for them. I never buy albums without downloading them and listening to them first. If I really like it, I will usually end up buying it, if I can find it somewhere (which is pretty tough around here. And I refuse ordering from overseas and being raped on shipping).

If he REALLY made music with his heart he would finish the album even if not one single copy was bought and it was spread all across the internet more than that damn "If you jerk it, god kills a kitty" pic

Just my opinion

Keep this in mind, if you were a professional producer, who's income depending on stuff like this, you would feel the same way.
And if anyone is thinking that because say... PvD doesnt do stuff like this, he's better, please keep in mind that he, and a lot of other dj's, can charge absolutley incredible amounts of money for their 2/3/how many hours sets.

Mebbe I relate coz I want to be a producer sometime in the future and I'd feel the same way

If my debut album that wasnt even finished and wasnt gonna be released for another few months some how got out on the internet, then either someone busted into my studio and stole the tunes, or someone in my label leaked it. L-Vee makes it sound like its the fault of all the people who've already downloaded it. Well, its already out there now anyhoo, you outta figure out how the fuck it got there.

I wouldnt mind if an album of mine got spread around the web. Id just be glad the music I created was being enjoyed by people. I might be a bit dissapointed that everyone heard it before its big release, but they just would have downloaded (or bought) it anyways after it came out.

Its not like the artists end up on the street or something. Very little from a CD/vinyl sale goes straight to the producer. Record labels pay them anyways just for being on the team. How do you think they live between album/record releases? A guy I know made a few fruityloops tunes that found their way to a label. They started sending him paychecks, and told him to keep making tunes and once he had enough, they would release an album for him. None of his tunes have even gotten vinyl releases.

I hope L-Vee finishes the album tho

I can understand L-Vee's point of being angry, but at the same time...

How are you going to know to go out and buy the vinyl if you don't know the track? MP3 exposure lets you hear a track that you might want to spin, and if they are truly producing quality trance then the masses will buy it. It's a great way to market yourself and make money, and the true followers will buy the album anyways out of respect to the producer.

Just my opinion.

Here´s a little thought...

Wouldn´t it be cool if all ripping groups bojcotted (bad spelling) L-Vee.
I know it sounds mean but that would make him understand the importance of what the mp3 sceene is doing for him.

Anyways...as some ppl have said. I think this is a promotion trick.
Just look how much responce he has gotten.

Hrm maybe he should ask himself if he'd be as well-known if it wasn't for the mp3 scene. I bet his album sells more copies than it would have done otherwise.
