What in the sweet name of Alan Alda are you talking about? "Sublime"? Are you that thick? "Sublime" is only a part of the album name. It's not some sort of "genre term." That's like saying music from Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon is part of a genre called "Moon."
Secondly, if you failed to miss a melody in that album then you're a moron. There's plenty of melody. Repetitive, yes, but having heard that album and having seen The Field play live I can safely say that he uses more melody than what you described.
I think that you're entitled to your own opinions about music, I do. I'm not going to like what you do and vice versa, and I wont shove my tastes down your throat. However, I highly suggest that you listen to more than one album of a certain genre and/or artist before you write something off entirely. Listen to more so you actually know what you're talking about.
