Try all the softwares like Reason, Cubase, Acid Pro, etc. in demo and then keep the one you prefer.

Hardware is for snobs or old producer that are making music for ages. If you can play piano then buy a good midi keyboard and that's it.

I agree. Just see what ones suits you and experiment a bit. Nice track though! keep it up and you'll do fine

Oh, I wish I had time to download all those demos and try them out

Before posting on this forum, I was working on a new trance (?) track. I've been trying to manually "import" it in FL Studio 5, but nothing cool has come out so far. Is FL Studio 7 much better than this? I mean, I already have a copy of FL 5, is it worth to download the FL 7 demo and try it?

thoughtlessjex: nice track, a cool mixture between metal and trance

PS: Is there a software where I can import MIDIs and replace the instruments by self-made synths, apply effects to them and so? I've heard (don't know if it's true) that you can do that with Reason.

Hey, I just watched a video on youtube of "how to get started on techno in FL Studio", and seems like I've got the basics It doesn't seem to be very difficult.

Yeah sure, most software do.

OK, here's my first try with FL Studio 5

http://www.goear.com/listen.php?v=09648b4

This is my first time ever, so don't expect so much! I still don't know how to use effects well and so.

Please, feel free to criticize it.

IMO, some volumes are not right set, and may be there's too much reverb?

Very nice. I can see that you have a talent in creating melodies. Excellent! Also start presenting your tracks in the music producers section. There are many other people who can comment on your tracks and you can also listen and comment on the work of others as well. Keep-up the good work!

Thanks guys, your posts are motivating to me

Yes, I guess it's time to start posting on the producers forum. Also, I'll start posting on "DJ Booth" forum, because I'm really starting to need other effects in my track.

Thanks you all guys for your help

Interesting. That track (1998) was among the few that got me into trance. It was among some of the best not-so-well-known trance tracks I got from MP3.com, before it was thrown under the bus by Vivendi/Universal. I wonder what Mark Hlobil (its lead musician) is doing now.
