Well that blows. It is the wire then for sure. At least you did what you could to eliminate all the other possibilities! Really, being a more informed cable customer, keeps the techs happy. Honestly, when he comes to the door, tell him exactly what you did, how you did it, and the symptoms that accompanied each and every test. Even if they are the same symptoms, say that. The techs really enjoy going to a customers house and they are relatively knowledgeable and have tried to troubleshoot it as much as possible without being the expert.
