I remember my under grad Mech Eng. I worked hard every week/weekend until the last day of senior year. I never had to take linear algebra but got parts of it in all my classes so if I ever did have to take it I think I do alright. I.e eigenvalues, spatial vectors, dot products,matrices, etc..

All Mech classes contained math from 1st grade to 3rd years college stuff so most of what I learned was important.

Now that I graduated all I need is the computer calculator for my job because I don't work in a technical work place but due to getting my masters now its back to the books one more final time


PS. if you have 0 apples and want to remove 1 apples how do you do that if you did not have any apples in the first place?

I know 0 - 1 = -1 but in the case above how is that physically possible

With math you gotta slow down for a sec and see what the big picture is all about. Numbers can just be useless unless there is a meaning to it in the end.

What I am trying to convey is negative number can't always be used for everything.

College sometimes over looks this and will have kids churnning out numbers to get A's but not know why 2+2 = 4 and so on. When you graduate college then all the formula's you learned might not help unless you understand what goes on during the formula usage.

Linear algebra was probably the easiest of the 123412341235161346 math courses i had to take for my engineering degree, and i have used none of it since i graduated. I found discrete and finite element much more of a bitch than linear algebra, perhaps it was because i learned how to get maple to work on my ti-83....


i also found a version of minitab that ran on the TI-83.... which made stats a walk in the park, infact im pretty sure i was still drunk from the night before when i wrote my stats final and i got an A on it.


just a quick question, you said you were taking electrical engineering? are you per chance of east indian or asian decent? just currious if the trend holds true at FSU as it does at any major engineering shcool in canada.
