unless you have a personal reason for italian, you should probably learn mandarin.

I was considering Italian because I was thinking of going to gemology school there after I graduate from college here. I've now realized that I don't necessarily need to get my gemologist diploma to be successful in the jewelry business. I also don't know if I will for 100% sure stay in the jewelry business. You never know what opportunities life will bring your way. After visiting Shanghai I want to go and live abroad there and study for a few years and learn the language. I like the language and would be one of a few native Americans who could speak Chinese. I think there will be a growing demand in the upcoming market for people who speak both English and Mandarin fluently. And in my opinion, Chinese women > Italian women. Sorry, but I was not that impressed with the Italian women and I have a thing for the Asian ladies.
