So on the spot live producing that some DJ's do is talentless?

Live producing isn't DJing it's producing. And that has absolutely nothing to do with what he's saying

all i am talking about is people who have never djed and suddendly they are like i wanna be a dj they get a program and thats it,

Again, why does the medium they use to play make a difference? It's the same music coming out of the speakers.

why did u do the switch to a laptop?

Traktor costs $600 with everything I'd need to play out, control vinyl/cds, software, and an external audio card/controller. I just bring my laptop, 2 control records, a few actual records, and that external sound card and I have my entire music library at my disposal.

Or I can spend at least $1200 on 2 cdjs that would just sit at home, plus countless blank CD purchases and constantly worry about which CD case I'm going to bring, and whether or not I'm going to run out of space.

Much much MUCH more convenient to use a laptop. Traktor also has 4 channels to play with as opposed to just 2 cdjs or 2 turntables.

Im talking about DJ's that are playing cd's or table and incorporate a track they just produced/remixed/sampled on Ableton in there live set.

I know not many DJ's do this, but the handful of talented/smart ones do.

I don't think there's any DJ out there that would make a track and play it AS they're spinning. Unless you mean they just completed it that day and are playing it out for the first time. Either way that has nothing to do with what Hadi is saying.

BT does a lot of live remxiing...or he used to. He could play the base of a track 20 times and if doing what he does in ABleton, it can sound very different each time....and it's all because of what he did live.

I'm not sure if he really does that much when he plays these days, but when he played here in SF last he did it quite a bit, at least at the beginning of his set....so he still does it, at least from time to time. That was the first time I had seen him really do it in years.

-------------------
I personally use Ableton Live
I have been for about four years now.
I'm happy to admit it.
I'm also happy to admit and KNOW that if you learn it well and have the right tools with it, there are things you can do that you could only dream with CDDJs and Vinyl. Too bad I still have no rythm when trying to do effects...
Why Live and not CDDJs, etc? Because I simply cannot afford it. Hell, I was given the copy of Live I have by a sound engineer/producer who receives it through his work, but he has no use for it...at least not right now. Now that I've learned it well as far as simply DJing, I really want external effects devices....just I need the money for it!

This whole playinv vinyl vs cddj vs laptop thing is for people who just need to feel that playing vinyl or CDDJs makes them better and just needs to stop. OK, it was kinda a cool argument 5 years ago when it was first starting to become known...but get over it...it's becomming more commonplace. A lot of bigger DJs are moving over. And a lot of these DJs were against it just like many others at one time. A lot of them use in the studio for their mixes right now while still going the old fashion route live....but I wouldn't be surprised if just about all those move to Ableton when playing live. Why? Because when you take the time to learn it while having an understanding of VSTs/effects/etc, there's a good chance you will realize how much more you could do if you use it when playing live.

In the end, get over it. grow up. Just go enjoy the music.

i was talking about set programming. like the order you play the tracks and how they build upon one another. as long as the set progression is good, i dont care what the dj uses.
