One of the most important things to getting organized is getting rid of all the shit you don't need.
If you don't like it, don't know where it came from, don't use it, GET RID OF IT.
Then you have to take whatever is left over and figure out where they belong. There are obvious places for things.
Shelving units are really good for the person who has random stuff (CD's, books, jewelery, knick knacks etc.)
Storage containers and shelving units for your closet are really helpful too.

I've found ways to organize shit like online pics, bills, clothes, etc. I reach a perfect end, but then I fail to "update" and I end up with an organized system with 8 months of shit on top of it (ex: perfectly organized binder of bills n papers and then the past years supply of helpless paper just stacked on top of it waiting for me to file them).
