As for this thread it wasn't intended to sound derogatory towards those playing old house stuff, I actually play very little new stuff myself these days. it's just something I've noticed in nearly every live set I listen to these days that house is back and long may it continue.
I was wondering if people are that disillusioned with current music that the only way to go forward is to go back.
Some examples of producers/labels/dj's doing the old house sound well, boris werner as metioned, ali nasser, cecille record, raresh, pedro and rhadoo, 8 bit (their most recent offering), andomat 3000, markus fix, lemos and kreon.....
I also notice the re-emergence of proper musical instruments in music (saxophone and the like) - maybe its been there all along and i've just been to focussed on one particular sound for too long it certainly feels that way. |
I bought this one on wax as well. I think this style of music is still very similar structurally, only that the sound has changed. Agreed with the instrument selection, and this is what gives the housier feel. I noticed you charted the Kabale Und Liebe Ep and i believe Flodder is also another example of this. Write those same tracks with the colder more mechanical samples of before and we would be last year again. I'm not complaining, i've always liked the recipe and either way the whole point of this style of tech has been for the dj to make it more interesting imo.
