Do you produce?
As I wrote in the Digweed mix thread, I'm trying to bring back the old '90s style of melodic, synth-rich composition by writing new tracks in that spirit.
Nah, not yet at least. I have a fair bit of musical training, I know practical theory, probably more than most professional producers. Unfortunately, a combination of having no production equipment and no money means that's a way off, I'm saving up for a basic CDJ setup first.

I arrived at it through the time-honoured method of taking a title from the mix and altering it slightly. Here it was the BT "Spirit of Grace" remix on Not Over Yet. I think there is a spirit encapsulated in these sets- a mindset and an ethos of music making that I think is missing a lot in today's music. I don't think everything would be better if epic house was still popular today, because music needs to evolve or it will become stale whatever the genre, but I wish more producers would try and incorporate the "spirit of 95" into contemporary sounds.
I'm grabbing the first mix now, I've been meaning to for some time.

Much thanks. I can't believe it's been a year now since I first posted Spirit Of '95. I was actually pretty nervous, thinking people would call it a load of shit or just ignore it. I think if you'd told me people would be bumping it twelve months on I'd have laughed.
