Term "techno" become quite controversial...

mp3 stores like Beatport tend to label a pretty much everything as techno...and they are soo damn wrong, imo.

imo, techno is music produced generally in 2001-2004 by Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Ben Sims, Samuel L Session, Bryan Zentz, Jel Ford, etc... before "minimal" was not so popular

I am talking about that kind of sound which was very popular back then, and had its peak during those years. Of course it was produced years before, but, imho, never had that popularity like 2001-2004..

Nop, for me it is tech house with "minimal" influnce.

Btw, as I said I haven't stated that there was no techno before 2000... There were plenty of great producers...Detroit trio, Beltram, Hawtin, Garnier...etc-

I like where this is going. This topic is important.

Where do we draw the lines between genres? How important is genre-ization to the global economy, particularly in the eastern sectors which have grown exponentially in the past 2 decades?

Does all techno have to sound the same? Why does it have to be so definitive?
