Would you have preferred that I started a new thread to draw attention to this complaint that seems to be getting quite common in boat cruise review threads recently?

Excessively bitter? I don't think so. I've gone on way more boat cruises that leave unacceptably late than boat cruises that leave on time.

Misguided? How so?

I don't really think it matters that I was there either. I wasn't complaining about this boat cruise in specific (as I wasn't there). Instead, I was responding to a discussion in this thread about the trend of boat cruises generally leaving later than advertised.

I didnt mean that its the promoters fault, i meant why is the boat allowed to come back early?

I also think more responsibility should be put on the people who come late. Dont hold the boat for them and make sure people arrive early. Its stupid that the people who are there on time get punished for people who cant get their asses out of bed in the morning on time.

I love boats and Im going to go no matter what. 1 hour, 3 hours, 10 hours... Im there

The problem probably has to do with renting the boat. AFAIK it probably costs a substantial amount to rent the boat per hour, and that hourly rate is probably charged as soon as the first person steps onto the boat until the last person steps off the boat.

So if a promoter were to rent a boat from 12am-5pm, the first person would probably be on the boat by 12 but it would probably take like an hour for everyone else to get on, especially if a lot of people are still buying tickets at the 'door'. and then they would have to dock probably by 4.30 at the latest so that everyone would be off by 5.

So if a promoter rents a boat for 5 hours, they could advertise a '5 hour cruise' when in reality the actual time the boat is away from the dock would be far less than that...

and its not like the promoter would be willing to dish out another like $1000+ or whatever it is just to extend the cruise for a bit longer to make people happy.

Sorry Sasha, but you snooze you lose! Holding up 500 people for 2 people that are running late, tough shit! If I was promoting a boat cruise and told people we were departing at 11:30, then be there! Why would I hold up 500 people at the expense of a few? It's not like promoters are losing money. It's the individuals fault that they can't take responsibility for their own actions and if it means missing a boat... then you miss the boat. So now instead of a few people complaining that the boat left without them, there's even more people complaining that things were done as planned.
If I was one of those people that was running late and I found that the boat left without me... would I really have any right whatsoever to complain?? No, it's my own fault... it's like getting your guestlist at a club before midnight, but you show up 5 minutes after... then too bad so sad.
Anyway, I was not blaming the promoters for anything, I was just upset that we didn't get the time we were promised. It's not like it ruined my entire day, I still had fun.

Thumbs down

Great day everybody!!!

Lots of kisses, smiles and fun.

The weather was perfect, the djs were amazing and the staff was incredible.

The boat left a bit late, but the lineup didn't begin 'til 11:30. It took a hour to get all people through. Also, the boat didn't wait for anyone. We left as soon as the last person in line boarded. It would be nice if we could start the boarding later and go 'til 5, but that's not an option.

Time flew by. There were so many things to do...Couldn't stand still.

I think the boat boarded early, but the Captain Flinders gave us an extra 10 minutes at the dock.

Val was drunk...hahaha. Siiiiiiiiiuuiik - right Jon?!

Erin was a dancing machine.

Floorplay (lisa and katie) were bouncing around in nothing - amazing.

Joel was Joel.

Evan was wearing sunscreen.

Let`s do it again on Sept 1st!!!

This was a great boat cruise!!!!

I had so much fun. All the DJ's on the lower floor were playing amazing!!!

I did catch some of the later part of Kaskade's set and was quite enjoying it, kept me moving the whole time.

I will admit I didn't realize the boat was supposed to leave so early and didn't get on till noon (sorry). The ticket did state 11:30 and I just hadn't read it, although no ending time was stated there. I'm just used to boats leaving at 1:00pm but that's my fault for not knowing.

Anyway, I had a great time and the length didn't bother me at all. When I walked on the place was already jumping and people were having a good time.

Great job Footwork and Activate!!!!

LOL

we were on the water for 4 hours and kaskade kept playing another 15 minutes after we docked. and there was 20+ minutes of music during boarding.

EDIT actually my bad.. we were on the water for just under 4 hours

i'd been looking forward to seeing kaskade for weeks but didnt catch more then 5 mins of his set.

the locals on the lower floor throwing down better sets and had amazing energy so i really didnt see why i would leave that floor esp since there was much more room to dance.

Evan and Joel got the cruise off to an awesome start, jelo came on and destroyed it and then jon and jeff came on and kicked some more dance floor ass.

awesome day, yay activate and footy!!

btw i liked this boat but NOTHING compares to the gambler.... OK DO WE ALL UNDERSTAND THIS?

The nice guys mooning us on our way out
