I feel bad saying trance is one the worst genres out there.

Very True!! I think EDM is a type of music that is always evolving and people sometimes forget that. It's funny that people can like a certain genre of EDM and then completely hate another. You've got people out there that listen to Prog house and Electro and hate "trance" where there are DJs out there like Gareth Emery who play prog house, electro, and trance in there sets and it sounds awesome.

Spot on. There is quality and rubbish within most genres of EDM.

I don't think many people genuinely hate certain genres of EDM, they just come across that way because they are desperately trying to achieve status through unrelenting criticism and condemnation - particularly of things a majority seem to like. Some people feel they are defined more by the music they think is shit than the music they like.

I mean, surely anyone knows it's foolish to denounce any genre as a whole; there will always be something to appreciate in there even if you dislike most of what you've heard. The exception to this would of course be genres that are somehow fundamentally ridiculous (for example, based more on image than musical content), but trance isn't one of those.

trance is weak now because of the current bombardment of new music makers. young or failed dj's decide that they cant get dj sets so join the bandwagon of boring producers with no melodical creativity or soul. when 'everyone was a dj' it was ok because the guys with no flair or musical creativity would just copy big names tracklists or play the sure fire hits - they would be the war up guys. now, these similar people are copying well known artsist like for like, but without injecting any good melody into the tracks, and because they sound well mixed, these boring tracks get played otherwise armin wouldnt have enough new music to fill a weekly show. we have so many new producers with better production skills than ferry did back when he made 'out of the blue'. difference is, ferry has always been a musician with a strong melodical ability. the majority of modern day artists have little or no emotion to put into the music they make. tbh, i think its physically impossible for someone who was not around in the 1980's(listening to emotive, feel good electronica from the by-gone days) to make inspiring or emotional trance music.
The bonzai remix comp is the perfect example. how can so many well mixed tracks have been made?(the productions are seriously good!), but so little of them have any originality to them?. id be uninterested in making music if my goal was just a case of trying to imitate what has already been done in hundreds of other tracks. these producers have put a lot of hard work in to get to the point where their mixing skills are as good as they are, and i cant understand the logic behind all the hard work unless they want to make something of their own. id rather have my substandard shabby mixing skills and the drive to push myself musically than to create tyas style stuff that i know i wouldnt have bought back when trance was good (when i bought trance vinyls).
