Is Ableton Live able to sync up to other Live instances like Traktor over a network?

Why would you do that out of curiosity?

I don't see the point.

Ableton can do everything that traktor can.

you can get an external soundcard on the cheap, but you'll probably regret it later as the functionality will be limited, sound could be less than desired, etc.

i just recently got traktor 3 and the audio 8 dj and they cost $100 and $400, respectively. just to give you an idea.

i hear what you're saying though, and i just did the same thing. it's pretty neat. i have a lot to learn, but the functionality is amazing.

Now its my turn to bring out some noobie questions.

What is SSL?

how well do cdj 800 mk2's work with traktor 3 as far as controllers go? i was watching the video with richie hawtin explaining his set up and how the decks in traktor are controlled through the xone midi controllers. do you get similar functions with the cdj's? does the auto sync still work, or do you still need to beatmatch your tracks?
or would you need the new 400's for that? and what exactly does the 400 do with traktor that makes it better? thanks. ideally i would like to have similar control that he has but with using my cdj 800's and technic 1200's, am i crazy? lol.

so... serato can't run 4 decks on its own...

but... hypothetically, can you run two instances of serato with two boxes hooked up to your computer?

or would your computer just melt or something at the thought?

Ableton isn't a NI product

Actually the best DVS-Ableton integration is through ReWire with Torq. There is an additional hack that lets you externally control while synched to Ableton too, or so I've read.

Here's a fresh question for you.

Do you think Serato are ever going to come out with a new hardware box allowing users to use 4 decks as this becomes more and more popular?

Hey mate, I'm just wondering where you've heard ableton is part of Native Instruments. I'm pretty sure it isn't. Ableton is a company in its own right and its product is Live. I know they have teamed up now again to offer certain packages etc but they are still seperate companies. Neither is owned by the other.
