Hey! Play nice kids. There is no need for hostility. Oktoberfest should be a time when we focus on booze and polka, not internet wrestling matches. Both of you need to wave the white flag and come drink, german style.

Okay so I'm looking at the Oktoberfest site and have no idea what I'm doing.

What's the good party to go to for serious Germanic drinking?

Duder... if you live Cambridge & don't know this by now, I'm very concerned about your ability to leave your house lol.

That said, here are my fav's from my experience from growing up & attending university in KW: (in no specific order)

1) Concordia - it's the biggest, it's the craziest, & you'll need buy from scalpers to get in now

2) Schwaben - my favourite — best food, imported kegs (none of that Molson Canadian bullshit), & dirndls a plenty; smaller venue, so eventually you get to know everyone in the place; & it's the home of the "sobriety test" — the chicken dance played & danced in reverse (gotta love the brothers Ofack in the band!!!!)

3) Queensmount - home of Walter Ostanek, the King of Polka, and a solid gender ratio... beware of spillage on the floor, as every year there are a number of beer spill slippage related head injuries

4) The Aud — university students everywhere... kind of like an Oktoberfest pick up bar if that's what you're looking for

5) Bingemanns - good old total gong show

After careful consideration, I'd be hard pressed to be convinced to go anywhere other than those 5... the Alpine club isn't bad, but outside of the above, you're better off waiting until next year & going to one of those.

anyways...

Polkas are invented by the Czechs... so I like to be festive, and remind the Polaks it's not theirs, and it's another thing that the Germans can't take credit for.

Hm, noted.

So, which party is everybody gonna go to? Is it possible to decide on one for the last weekend or something that we all attend, or is it too late for that?

True.

Your best bet would be to swing by Hans' Haus. Wow...I haven't lived in Kitchener for 5 years now... I think it's still at the corner of Charles St. & Benton St. ... had to use Google Earth to double check that was the intersection it used to be at.

Hans Haus has whatever remaining tickets there are for any of the fest-halls. But they're tapping the keg tomorrow, so I'd recommend you head down there today.

Tickets for Concordia Club sell out in July.

Most of the others are gone by September.
