I would not have guessed that you were a Conservative voter.

They'll probably come close, but in order to get a majority they need support in Ontario and it just won't happen, not even with both the Liberals and NDP promising to raise taxes.

I can think of at least two positive things:

1) It keeps the Liberals out for another four years;
2) It hopefully sends a message to the Liberals that they need to do better than a weak orator, a carbon tax, and a lot of smugness in order to win an election.

Conservatives should want the Liberals to be offering real competition, because otherwise Harper will pander - as he has with the auto companies. Unfortunately they still have not learned their lesson, and we can only hope that another defeat (let's not forget that the election was partially a response to a challenge they issued, or more like a "dare") will drive the message home.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I hope that this will eventually bring some balance back to the political parties. The Liberals are almost as far left as the NDP; people used to vote for them because they were moderate. After Mulroney, I probably would have voted for them if I'd been old enough to vote.

I'd seriously consider Liberal if Martin or Bill Graham or someone like them (and ideology) ran as leader. But this green shift Liberals just don't appeal to me

PC wouldn't necessarily be my first choice, but we don't have many right-wing options.
