As i always say. If you dont want to live in a big city, DON'T!

You could make a lot of slippery slope arguments, but the reality is that the zone contributes more sketch to that corner than burger king does. (And I believe there is a Burger King on the opposite corner)

I have lived in the neighborhood for years and pass through that intersection multiple times per day including on weekends and that is my observation, and for that reason, I would not lose any sleep if the zone closed. Maybe when you move to the neighborhood we could take a stroll through there together and see what your thoughts are. Until then....keep on with your hypothetical arguments, and I will keep talking about what actually happens there, cool?

From the sounds of it, the zone doesn't have many more days left operating only because it is appealing the revokation of its license. So perhaps this is all a moot point.

All I said was that I would prefer a condo than the zone and you guys got defensive. I would also prefer not to waste taxpayer money in policing the place but I know that isn't possible because we live where we do and things like this go through due process. Because I believe in democracy, I'm can live with that. I just think the end result is the same either way.

If something like that bothered me so much i wouldnt move to the area. If i still chose to live there then i'd accept the neighbourhood for what it is. Living in a city involves tolerence for good and bad. This being no exception.

You can't honestly believe that a business is wholly responsible for the actions of it's customers.

No they are not wholly responsible, but are they taking any preventative action to try and minimize the drug usage and run a legitimate business?

I'm not sure. I haven't been there since the raids...

Are they?

By the way, police presence should be responsive instead of imposing. Otherwise you create more problems

Agreed. Skipper, you may be right, the club may die if you increase the police presence; however, it may survive. Perhaps increased police presence would be sufficient to keep the worst of the worst away while still leaving a venue for patrons who are not scared off by the police presence. Perhaps the increased presence would be enough to reform the behavior you find objectionable. Whether it were to survive or go under I don't care; however, the city removing a lawful business' ability to conduct business because it does not like the business' clients is just plain wrong.

Typical whiner/anti mentality as applied to the burger king scenario:

im a vegetarian green party supporter living at spadina and college. Burger king is an undesirable business because they kill animals and produce garbage. I think they should shut down burger king because i disagree with the anti social behaviour that goes on there. I dont believe that i should instead move to a cul de sac in the suburbs far away from cow killers because the world revolves around me and especially my beliefs.

in what sense?

i'm not seeing any slow down in permits being filed and approved for that area. in fact, all design work for condos in the entertainment district is going full steam ahead.

just the other day i saw a brand new rendering for a development above this is london. it's quite nice in fact.

Also, I think this article written with a very unbiased tone.

The Toronto Sun is a piece of shit haha it's an incredibly sensationalist + bias mainstream newspaper... it's essentially a tabloid in disguise. I can't believe someone who has studied journalism is actually defending it's credibility!?!??

interesting... i read an article a week ago that said that developers are delaying or cancelling projects that havnt been started and that are only going ahead with new starts if they have committed to it already. Perhaps these permits are the last breath since they are already sold? Or perhaps you cant believe everything you read in the paper?

It's all speculation right now.

There was an article posted in the Star this morning about it.

It just talks about how some of these condos might now have the financing since there has been lots of issues with the credit market as of late.
