simple stupid, leave it with the person at the library desk. if its important to him he'll ask the desk, otherwise they're so cheap he'll just get a new one. mine is on my key chain so this doesn't ever happen.
COR Recap: I stole it on Wednesday and now it's Saturday. Odds of him asking this late on: very low.

seriously, just keep it and use it
nothing (okay, not a lot) beats the feeling of getting something for nothing
I sometimes honestly wish that I could reason like that.
But I would've been reminded of the theft everytime I would've used the thing.
I'm a weak, weak person
So basically I would return it for my own conscious sake and not because I'm a "good person"

...You're going to mail a pen drive about 4,000 miles across the Atlantic?

i must have no feelings then
this is how i would react in this example: you find $500 in a wallet on the street, no ID. do you keep it or do you leave it for someone else to steal it and take advantage of the situation??
you take that shit and benefit
what if there is an ID?
depending on how badly you need the money, you return it and maybe in the back of your mind you hope they graciously throw you fifty bucks for giving it back. if i'm broke and about to get evicted though, i'm paying off my rent. i'd say %90 of people would do the same.

Man i had something similar to happen to me, but not rly.
I was in the school library, when i noticed someone had left a ti-89 scientific calculator. I grabbed it becuase i knew someone was going to steal it, and when i went downstrais to the main floor, i was going to drop it off at the found and return kiosk.
Well, i managed to go out of the library and forgot to pass through the kiosk. That was about a year ago, and now i still have this calculator (and i am afraid to use it becuase it might belong to someone in my class? )
I am also afraid of returning it to the kiosk and being like "ya i found this a year ago..."
So it just sits in my desk :/
And i dont really need it becuase i have 3 ti-83+ which i bought.

save a copy of the TA thread and a journal of your inner quandry on the USB key so the person understands the conflict that gutted you in returning it to him
