i don't know why they asked me to come in today. nothing to do but listen to music all day.
here we go.
intro we already spoke of. RUMBABACLAPBUMBARAPPADAPPACHEEEYAAEHHH.
moving on. the first part consists of some of the most melodic stuff i've heard from you yet. it maintains the "techno" industrial elements, but its a breath of fresh air really.
Daso - Meine (Lucio Aquilina Remix) [Ghostly International] - I find to be a very nice mellow opener. doesn't really get out of hand or go anywhere but has a nice "airy" light fluffy feeling. shoulders moving from side to side type of deal.
Nick Curly - On My Way [8Bit] - Is a track I really like, feeling that groovy bassline. But i have to say it was cut a bit short, no? I felt like Schwartz track came in a bit soon, though the bassline flip was perfect. i always have trouble mixing into this thing and you've managed to do it with style - major props.
Dsum - Libertad (Dsum Conga Perdida Edit)[Monifonicos] - and a nice mixout into this. loving this track too. another deep groovy track, the opening of this set is terrific. not over the top but just enough emotion to carry.
DJ T - Before Light [Poker Flat] - WAY PROPER! The mixing is top notch, and this one throws a bit more energy into the mix. really like the flow of everything so far.
And it looks like we're back to your old techno ways. Boris Brejcha - Aquilah [Harthouse] (insert "these biscuits are a bit dry" joke here). really like the percussion on this track, keeping up with a light tribal feeling i got carrying over from I Exist Because Of You. definitely a dirty nasty tune, i can't explain it, but it's fucking filthy. me likey.
Micha Klang - Flush Dance [Glueckskind Digital] Knee deep in techno. steady. steady.
I'm lost now, it's all techno... might be the next song. It's consistent. I think it might be Mikael Stravostrand - Crushed [Imprime] - is that the one with the funky bassline going on right now? and some young black men exclaiming? and some german words?
actually i think the german is coming from this - Lee Curtiss - Nook [Dumb Unit] - nice mix, didn't even notice how it bled in there.
i like La Pena a lot. i just picked up a release with 4 tunes (Ol Farmer is one that i remember off the top of my head). haven't gotten around to listening to the whole bit, but the samples sounded like perfect openers, every one of them. i don't think this one was on the release might have to check it out.
Harry Axt - Zeitsprung [Grand Petrol] - Not interested. Too dry and obscure.
if i'm following correctly - Doubting Thomas - Repeat Repeat [Metroline Limited] - is the shit, and i am so glad the last one is over. this is getting more towards what i wanna hear. young black man exclaiming and groovy bassline. like eeet. you could've fit in I Exist Because Of You after this also.
Ryan Crosson - Spray Painted Flowers (Jorge Savoretti Remix)[Igloo Rec] - like this tune coming in, had a few "string" moments in it. and a deeper bassline is awesome. the energy takes a hit though... maybe it was planned.
Daniel Schneider - Miezekatze (Tone Def Remix)[Alt Recordings] - also pleasurable. the energy got on the rise with this one. i think the jump straight to Shadi Megalla - Crack, Snapple & Flop (Jorge Savoretti Remix) [Sk Supreme] - helped out. looooong mix.
Pawas - New Bed [Fear Of Flying] - really like the... "drive" of this tune. must be that grinding shit. great on energy towards the latter part of the set here.
Toby Dreher - Lazy Girl [Mecha Recordings] - yeah, hell yeah. funk! also love the little noise from the previous tune continuing well into it.
Jamie Jones Vs Simon Baker - Kaskazi (Swahili Dub)[Get Digital Music] - more hell yes. loooooving the energy and tunage on the backend of this mix. almost going back to what we started with. definitely moving my ass now.
...
..........
ok i definitely either missed something, which is likely, you're a sneaky mother****** and will do shit like this. or the mix just ended prematurely. i thought i was following along rather well but apparently not.
conclusion, i really liked the beginning, probably my favorite half hour of music from you in all this time i've been peeping shit that you mix. the middle got a little drive and techno heavy, which was fine but definitely not the favorite if you catch my drift. the end picked up a lot of energy again and was flowing awesome then just kinda stopped.
basically, this part:
Daso - Meine (Lucio Aquilina Remix) [Ghostly International]
Nick Curly - On My Way [8Bit]
Henrik Schwartz & Amampondo - I Exist Because Of You (Dixon's Stripped Down Version)[Innervisions]
Dsum - Libertad (Dsum Conga Perdida Edit)[Monifonicos]
DJ T - Before Light [Poker Flat]
was the shit!
