i'd love to see it happen but i don't think some of the smaller bookings would bring out a large crowd to sonic
sonic/boa imo is quite big and to fill it up you'd have to bring bigger djs, then again mod club is a bit smaller but the same type of space and it's doing quite well right now i guess..

First time I heard Tony Rohr was at Boa, I think that was his first time in Toronto - killer night musically, but the 'vibe' wasn't there. Still danced my ass off though, and found that back then he played a bit on the harder/chunkier side of things then what he does now. Mmm, good night
That was a completely ridiculous set.

I agree its the perfect size, like when i'm in the mood for a night were i'm not sourounded by tweaked asians from the guy footy is the perfect escape and they bring in a great diversity of acts.

I think this is the key here. Their size lets them bring in lesser known acts, because their costs for the actual venue are not that much higher, so they are not forced to book 'guaranteed' DJ's, with a huge established base.

And i think this is great bc it brings a lot of dj's who would not get booked at say GUV or Circa to Toronot.
I've tried to always live by the "Don't Try and Fix what Isn't Broken" philosophy... And I would say that in reference to the idea of moving Footwork.
I always love walking in the doors of that club. I had some great times at Sonic, and I do miss the club... But Footwork has been pulling in amazing parties since I've been going.
The vibe is unbeatable in my opinion.

I can think of bunch, but noise complaints might be one. There are a lot more high end condos in the King West area, and "sound containment" has always been an issue, I believe. Not sure if it is an issue anymore. Isn't it also the reason that FW closes at 5am, whereas Boa/Sonic always seemed to go much later/earlier....
stand outside Footwork.
sound is not an issue

just because not enough people said it... i'd love if such a thing happened!
not to take anything away from Footwork as-is though, it has always been good times.
/not usually a fan of small clubs.
//Footwork is about as much a "mid-sized" club as a VW Golf is a "mid-sized" car.
///Not that there's anything wrong with that

really?
do they get complaints on any given night or do they just have it turned up too high sometimes?
walking by one night, it didn't seem overly intrusive at all.
