riight!

So, based on this logic - everything should always be done for free, or don't bother doing ti at any time of the year - regardless of motivations behind it?

Same logic of "Well hun, I can't save the whole planet, so I wont bother recycling -- if you cant kill the big fish, why go after the small ones eh?"

Great idea! Thanks Charles and Nick! There is a chance I will take you guys up on the offer of free transit on NYE.

Also, bravo for your clever stump up of cash - I hope it pays dividends back to you (and saves a life or two in the process).

As long as no-one tries to call you guys 'heroes' or 'philanthropists of the year', I am hunky dory

For the most part, yes. Except there will still be people drinking a driving.

But if TTC was free all the time, there would be less people drinking and driving.

+1 is great, but your thinking on your rationale scares the fuck out of me. It's that thinking that made us a nanny state, making everything illegal and banned for just one person, and having the rest of us complain...

BUT I GET YOUR POINT!!!

not everyone lives close or within say 1/2 hour ttc ride from venues in the downtown core...its easy to say that people living downtown or close to a TTC stop easily accessible and close to their destination downtown do NOT drive..

its the lazy people that are within ttc reach but cant "bear" the "long" ride home and those living in the far off burbs that would have to pay multiple fares and/or dont have transit at the wee hours of the morning running in their area that WILL drive even if you give them transit fare on exiting the club

so i really dont see what logic you people have saying that free transit will save lives....
