| quote: | | Ryan, like I said after the show, a great set from you. I imagined that is more like what you would play if you were headlining. You brought it in well for Hernan. I especially liked when you dropped that Alex Kenji track. The crowd was definitely warmed up at that point! |
Thanks man. I sometimes feel like it's ok to play a few medium-big tracks during an open set depending on who is headlining, the vibe of the night and as long as the last 20 minutes before the headliner the tempo or tracks level out and make it easy for the headliner to go in whatever direction he/she pleases. Of course it's not good to say, play Beatport top 10 or such since those are generally big bangers
I remember once at Tentation I saw Hernan bring down the tempo to 125 to start his set and that really stuck in my head because generally at the Giant OC events headliners play 128+ to start. So for Thursday I had it at 125 the entire time (until the end) and sometimes I still thought it was fast, but never felt like it was too slow though 125 seems to be more the tempo of deep house DJ's. Then again, the word "deep" has been used quite a bit to describe Hernan on this post by many people so..
All in all, he is a DJ I aspire to be more like.
