No but you can understand at the very least that the tone of the film and halcyon's go together like nails and a chalkboard.

I got into the scene later then the rest of you, but I thought the trance of 2008 was great. I can't even find enough time to try and catch up with everything that has been released. It may not be like Groove anymore and a lot of stuff is more commercial, but there is still lots of great music being released that are making "clubs" explode at times. After all, none of us would still be in here talking if there was no fun left in the scene.

You and I go together like nails and a chalkboard.

I'm the nail and you're the chalkboard.

I entered the scene while in California during the summer of 2000. Over 90% of the scene was comprised of candyravers/candykids ow whatever they called themselves. I rode with two friends to Cyberia in San Bernardino thinking theyt were going to a club. I didn't do drugs then and mostly found myself driftin around the party trying to found a room that had some decent music. The music sucked by mostly everyone was dancing..I figured "I guess you gotta be on whatever the fuck in order to get into this shit." I later found the dudes I caught a ride with on enough acid and ecstasy that had the trippin for most of the day after. If it wasn't for DJ Thee-O of Los Angeles coming on at 2 or 3am and playing the set he did..I probably wouldnt of attended another rave. It was that same DJ that inspired me to start DJing as a hobby. 2 years later in Dallas, PvD inspired me to take the hobby seriously.

There are aspects that I missed about the previous raves, and I would have killed to have gotten a mainroom slot. Some of those mini-massives got up to 30,000 people while Together as One 2001 got up to 100,000. You don't see that happening anymore. And back then, find a hot chick chewing on a pacifier, and she'll fall in love with you for wearing something shiny. These days you got these materialistic bitches who'll only hook up with you if your wearing somethingt expensive...and even then it aint a done deal.

However, there are aspects I like about today's scene. Due to the efforts of Sean Carnahan and now Mike, the scene is more about the music than it was about the drugs. It seemed that once the drug use diminished, the quality of tracks and dj sets picked up...thats my perception of it, and I could be wrong.

Overall: 8 years ago there was a vibe that I do see today. Maybe like PLUR and all that other pipe-dream nonsense, it was drug-induced. But at those parties I remember I could go, be myself, dress how I wanted to dress, and as long as you were a down to earth cool dude, you could make a shitl;oad of new friends at the event.

While today, we have the muswic we love, but it seems like we got invaded by the mainstream club scene. Instead of people going for the drugs, you got the Julios showing up to prey on the drunk ho's and grind or otherwise simulate sex on the dancefloor. The you have the clubber goin "oi oi" to the beat...which is soimething that never should of been invented.

This has gotten long enough, but those are my thoughts.

That's kind of sick eh? I don't go that way though you might try Carlitos.

Back to the topic. The grass is always greener on the other side. The scene was always better before (insert year you started partying here).

Eh, I don't know that it was necessarily better. Different? Yes. I do miss that most of the scene was considered underground and had that stigma attached to it. Now that most genres are becoming more commercialized, you really can't have that true underground scene. I know everyone asks for it and tries to throw parties that take you back to that time. But, the reality is that it really can't be immulated anymore. I like the large clubs and that EDM is being promoted more and more today. I don't necessarily like HOW it's being promoted and what/who decides what is popular and good and that given day.

Dave, you can't just come back to TA and start throwing hate. That right has been revoked until further notice.
