My name is Bassel, it's actually pronounced 'bess-ell', but I guess Americans have a hard time with that? So they've always said it like Basel 'bah-zel' (the English way). In high school I had a friend that decided to stop calling me 'bah-zel' and just go with 'baz'. Well there's no 'z' in my name so I spell it Bas despite the fact that it's pronounced with a z.
