I like Konrad, don't get me wrong. His show here back in February was the tits. It doesn't change the fact that this cd looks uninspired. Studio comps should be about taking risks and playing stuff you wouldn't normally play imo. Kinda like Zabiela did on disc one of his new Renaissance. The artists he used on that disc weren't necessarily unknowns, but they probably were to a bunch of Zabs fans, and he introduced them to new stuff like a dj is supposed to.

Maybe this is supposed to be a cd of his club sound and it's just as simple as that, but if I wanted that I would go to a show of his. I know it might sound pretentious and self-centered, but I want people to take more risks on studio comps since you have time to crate dig, find untouched stuff, or bring something new to your listener base rather than punting the same six guys you have been in every set across the world.

While I agree with you about studio mixes being the time/place to get freaky with your collection...the Watergate series is meant to promote Watergate as a club in the same way the Fabric.Live series is meant to push Fabric as a club...if you'll notice the regular Fabric comps tend to be the ones where the artists get "daring".

With compilation CDs it's all about platform. If you want to see DJs get interesting check out the Choice or Back To Mine series....they need more of those imo.

Even if it's a club promotion comp it looks lazy though. I've seen plenty of Fabric comps where they played some stuff you wouldn't normally hear from them.

You're definitely correct about them not digging deeper, but I've never had a problem with it. Good music is good music.

yeah its dope, its pretty trippy music all around, was just left with a feeling that he could have done way more.

Ok so... yeah. Was decent I guess, some nice tracks in it that I'll be picking up for sure, but as a whole it was definitely lacking a bit. After the first track the beginning section did really nothing for me at all, after about 30 minutes I started really enjoying it.

Just felt a bit dry all around, I dunno.

konrad is an awesome producer, a great canadian export and so on, but like ted said he needs to go deeper if he is going to release a dj comp imo. I would much rather see an artist album then a bunch of tracks i already know.
