Recently they started developing mixers for the DJ. I think the DMX series came out in March 2002! As part of their marketing strategy, they decided to introduce a quality, feature loaded mixer, with a relatively low price. The goal is to get the Behringer name out there in the DJ'ing community. Unlike Numark, Vestax and Gemini the Behringer main revenue source is not DJ mixers. They do not need the same margins as other brands to turn a profit.

If you knew the production price of some top of the line Ranes, Pioneers etc., and the production price of Vestax, Stantons...the difference is less than 50%, but the retail price of Ranes and Pioneers are more than 100% more.

that explains why

Well good luck then. Tell me how it goes. I ended up getting the numark 3001X for 320 canadian. So since it's doubtfull you can get it that cheap, go for the Behringer.

fastmp3, it probably would be a good idea to get the mixer first.. i mean, why not? you can always use it with a computer-based MP3 program that supports an external mixer... that way, you can get used to the faders and EQs while you are saving for decks...

another advantage is you can practice transitions easily without worrying about beatmatching that much... i spent about a year with my mixer before i had the $$ for decks and vynil - and when i finally got my decks, all i had to do was learn to beatmatch on vynil and after that i was able to start actually making some good transitions and feeling good about my progress... i've only had decks a month but not many people can tell that

have fun
-mer

Hey guys... we have done this thread before, havent we?

I was very interested in Behringer mixers.. so much because of the price and what you get in return. I was even going to buy their DX-1000.. but then i looked on the back of the mixer..

MADE IN CHINA

Then i thought, "oh no.. this one you would have to take risks with"
So i didnt take the risk... i dont really know any other manufacturers whose products are made in China with good specs; Pioneer, Vestax, Gemini, American Dj, etc.

That was the reason why the price was a lot lower than competition. But they all hold good value for what you get.. but just one incident was my friend's brand new Behringer mixer losing a channel(?) after 3 days..!!

I guess it is a risk if you purchase some of their products...
But i would definately hold them as competition to Gemini, Numark, etc. if they were of higher quality... but for people with smaller budgets and unlimited needs.. these mixers could be for you

Yes i know that most are made in Asia, but the difference between quality make in China and Taiwan (Gemini and a few others) is very large.
