i used to love progressive breaks, if it was still around might be my favorite, there is some good stuff that comes out every now and again. ill go back and listen to it every now and again, my friends used to say its good stuff to listen to after a rave, fuck that though, i could listen to it all the time. it seemed that as it got popular, everyone had a breaks track on the b-side and then it went away.
some of my favorites were
orchid (probably all time favorite)
momu
starecase (some of their remixes, ie. astrodancer, you wonder, day of mine)
digital witchcraft
fretwell
jiva
btw anyone know where to get digital witchcraft - pocket universe in digital format wav or 320kbit?
i still have a playlist on my ipod of all breaks.
i used to produce breaks for like 3 or 4 years but dont have inspiration to do it anymore, haha oh well

Subsky - Single Gun.
Strictly speaking it's still constructed around a four to the floor rhythm, but the percussion gives it a very breasky sound. This is an amazing track with an absolutely blissful melody.

fave producers from that era: habersham, momu, lostep/luke chable, digital witchcraft, grayarea, starkid, jacob todd, jeff devas, joel armstrong, opencloud, pb&j, etc.
i would have to say it was all inspired by the old northern exposure stuff...my fave track from that was frontside - dammerung.
heres an old old old old OLD dj mix set i found on a CD that i did during that time:
