Cascada is not Trance, it's Euro-Dance.
And yeah, Trance producers, when compared with other types of Electronic producers, usually do a better job of being consistent.
Laugh all you want at Armin and Tiesto, but their albums and releases are better then most of the stuff coming out from your typical Psy Trance or Techno producers. Whether it's their vocal efforts, as cheesy as some may be, or instrumental Trance anthems.
Same as true for guys like Cosmic Gate, Lange, Airbase, and countless others.

I never said that Cascada is trance. I said that the people you refer to that gets "hooked to trance" are mainly people who have heard the latest Cascada on radio and think they are listening to trance. And the step from that to this is not very big. And I suppose you are refering to this garbage when you say that Armin is doing a better job in being consistent?

Well, I mean he's consistent when compared to both super cheesy Euro-Dance (if we're talking about his vocal tracks), and when compared to other genres of EDM if we're talking about the actual Trance records he makes.
I know you're a huge fan of Psy Trance, and I like some of it too. You were also once a fan of good Progressive Trance from back in the day. Feel free to give me some examples of producers whose music you enjoy.
That applies to anyone else on here who wishes to do the same. Give me some examples of House, Techno, Drum N Bass, or Progressive artists you enjoy.
I feel that for too long many of you have been holding Trance producers under a microscope, analyzing every component of every track they release, but not being as judgemental with other genres.

let me get this clear:
1. I was not a fan good progressive trance. I AM still a fan of progressive trance. In fact I prefer progressive trance to psytrance.
2. I am not a fan of the current trend of electro house etc. In fact I despise it as much as I despise cheesy trance ala Armin & Tiesto.
3. Some good producers: Union Jack, Blue Planet Corporation, The Digital Blonde, Art of Trance, Vibrasphere, Human Blue, Nicholas Bennison, Chris Cowie (the old stuff from Hook Rec), Man With No Name... just to name a few.
oh btw. what actual trance records have Armin made recently?

Armin made a decent one with not too long ago with "Imagine"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGC-rhzXg70
Before I get into over-analyzing the artists Rebel mentioned I'll give a couple of Trance records I like from the past year or two
There's the likes of Leon Bolier with "Ocean Drive Boulevard"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ces...feature=related
Or Myon & Shane 54 Feat. Carrie Skipper "Vampire". Gareth Emery did a good job on the remix front:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmysOQ5gzYg
Rebel mentioned some really good producers (as expected) though many of them havent released anything in years.
I have Union Jack's first album, and still enjoy listening to it. Also have most of the Art of Trance releases. Here's some highlights for those among you who are unfamiliar with these pioneers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfTb...feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-JWzAGyths
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTFs...feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFQmfB0plWc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz79...feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Swb3...feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3uP...feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRL-...feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDaF...feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cZEDLwId1k
A lot of Chris Cowie's records, especially the "newer" ones were not that interesting. For example, this Driving Trance that builds but doesnt really go anywhere:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHTSHrf1XI0
This one's very atmospheric, and is pretty typical of a lot of the music coming out of the Progrsssive camp in 2001. Fairly boring and by the numbers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hms2...feature=related
His older stuff, as you mentioned, was better. The sound was richer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLsdqvTS5AI
Blue Planet Corporation were great in the way they incorporated Dream Dance with elements of Psy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYtw6j1AHUw
Some of their other tracks were very reminiscent of many other Psy Trance tracks out at the time:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKRQSLd-rJ8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROI1...feature=related
Not sure I have anything bad to say about Digital Blonde either, especially since they released one of my alltime favorite Trance tracks, "Legato"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPcO...feature=related
They knew how create a lot of those bigger then life Trance anthems:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KCRN-zapU0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4FFFJB5EEM
I wasn't too impressed by "Mooga"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqOPLq37wGU
Or with their collaboration with John 00 Fleming:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhAN...feature=related
Though I did enjoy them remixing a John 00 Fleming track:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyK2...feature=related
While Digital Blonde have always been big with Jogn 00 Fleming, many of us know Man With No Name due to the huge support from Paul Oakenfold back in the day:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFgaEJbtv3U
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQaV...feature=related
It's always fun to find those early Trance records, like this one. The type of samples you hear on this one later became a staple for many of the Psy-Trance records of the 90s:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDp4...feature=related
And yet, there was definitely a good deal of redundancy after you heard a couple of Man WithNo Name records. Too many of those same squelching acidic sounds:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPr8...feature=related
Not sure I understand the appeal with some of Vibrasphere's records, like "Floating Tree" or "Newport". It's pretty much Atmospheric Trance
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqrfDNHnevU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaYX...feature=related
Though "Isolation" is a pretty cool track:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OWi...feature=related
Love it though when prudcers of their likes make Ambient music:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6xP...feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0xM...feature=related
Oftentimes I'm not a fan of the act Atmos, but they did a good job remixing Vibrasphere's "Morning Breeze"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qmA...feature=related
There's also nothing that really grabs you about many of Nicholas Benison's productions. It's like they sound promising, but just Christopher Lawrence you feel that something's missing, or the production is unfinished:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uac63cHpzzE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y3wVtHCP0M
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfpzTIyREpw
I do like Benison's "Spririt Chamber", but even that one is just okay
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUhZqH4XlxQ

Someone let me know if anyone is making tracks like this monster AVB remix of Moogwai-Viola in 2000. What a MASSIVE lead synth at the 4:40 mark.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGFgcBEK3z8
But good trance is still getting made I do believe. What about astralis - solar flare?
