Exactly, gotta love EDM and Underground Music in general. It is about the music first and foremost.

Christ, WTF is going on around here?

Yes, the thread topic was undoubtedly lame, but there's a lot negative energy here - I think you guys need to hold hands and sing Kum ba ya

Back OT - if you treat people like cvnts (kind of like the mac purchase story in all honesty), then people will think you are a cvnt, and unless you have some fucking amazing talent or the rights to something that people just can't live without (cure for aids and cancer) then really people aren't going to want to know you, period.

I'm surprised Richie that you aren't more adept at being PC as a composer - I work with a lot of them and only the top guys get to forget about being nice all of the time (because they can). In the scoring industry it goes a long way if you're known as being a good person to work with....it sometimes outweighs the talented assholes and I know of several situations where people have lost big gigs over it.....

The guys who get really far in any industry, especially this one, are talented and good people to deal with - being a wanker seriously damages your career.

And Chrono? At it again? Please. Have you ever even been to germany? Of course to you their all still Nazi's, at least when it comes to being PC.

You forget that Europeans have freedom of speech and INDEPENDENT media meaning we probably have more rights than the US when it comes to saying what we want.

I disagree with the topic being lame, and here is why... it is an observation of Underground Music Artist Ethics and Culture. And it seems to be something no one else has talked about on this forum, which makes it a super awesome topic. I mean how great is it that in Underground Music people can be themselves and still be successful, which is the point of this topic, (how is that lame?). And the topic also makes the point to future successful artists that they don't have to follow the conditioned nature that artists follow in more mainstream music industries and cultures. Also that the fact that people who see you as a cvnt, has very LITTLE relevance towards your success or failure, since the music speaks for itself.

Anyhow, finally someone is actually discussing the topic, instead of another bored lowlife attacking me

i never liked hooligan music anyway though. besides i have better things to do when drinking. like arguing why some people get gay. its all about an absent father or a father too "involving". girls get mad when saying that, somehow gays are their friends so theyre supporting them and saying its a fault from birth. but no its environment im sure.

Europe invented Political Correctness and then they brought it to America. Europe and their fucking guilt trip pansy ass feeling sorry because of the holey WW2 fiasco.

Do you know in Germany if you talk bad about a Jew you can actually be send to Israel for so called "hate speech"..how pathetic.

Europe is an Orwellian society through and through. You better not say anything that goes against the trends, or the thought police will get you.

I prefer to call it ideologically sensitive rather than politically correct - that's the more ideologically sensitive way to refer to something that carries so much baggage.

I like to call it ethical conditioning. But political correctness description is more understandable by people.

It is kind of lame, because it's just common sense in the broad possible meaning and is not exclusive to EDM. I've had many different different careers in the last 14 years or so, and when looking at people's success (including mine), the one common stand between those who do well and those that don't, is how they are able to interact with other people and get along. I did say clearly however that if you're so that talented that people just can't bear to be without what you are able to provide, then yes, you can get away with not giving a shit about how you are perceived....but I still believe you get further by talented, hardworking and a good person to know.

But the topic is also kind of lame, because it does not ask to address you're a nice person or easy to deal with, just if you are PC, which s NOT the same thing.

Being PC just means not saying something that could be found offensive. yes, it's got out of control in some instances, but being offensive can often be based on personal perspective. It's really not that difficult to be unoffensive in this life, especially when your livelihood depends on it (which is what the question is getting at).

so it is kind of a (not totally) lame topic as it just makes sense not to be offensive when you want to work with other people. If someone has trouble doing that as part of their general existance then I would suggest some professional help, not looking on the internet for answers., if you get what i mean?
