It's not just the ultra-rich swine - most of the middle-class families send their kids to private school, and those kids do take the bus. You might think they don't by looking at a bus load, but that's only because the ghetto families outnumber them 5 to 1 or maybe even 10 to 1.
And with numbers like that, the "whatever reason" is pretty clear - the public schools in the area are really, really terrible, and because of the North York board's stupid rules, the kids can't go to a slightly more remote public school instead. So parents do what any sane parent would do and scrape up the money for private school.
The well-to-dos were there first - it was originally a very well-to-do area, as anyone who grew up there in the 70s and 80s will tell you. There's a fair amount of NIMBYism, yes, but please, don't try to blame the state of affairs on them. The ones who haven't moved to the burbs yet are the only ones preventing it from becoming like south Weston Road.
