I also think its a big miss for not including vst support although it does look like a solid product and will appeal to a lot of people im sure.

i doesn't look like anything speacial but at least i can add some guitar to my reason tracks with ease.

what the really need to do is add some better mastering tools, the mclass eq isn't the best. also they need to get reason to be able to use more processor power.

the mixer is based on ssl console. which is good but why buy this and have reason in it when you can have cubase / logic etc in rewire?

Processing a highly structured and complex pattern of sensory input as a unified percept of "music" is probably one of the most elaborate features of the human brain.....understanding how music is perceived and how it may elicit intense sensations is far from being understood.

Hahah yer my bad :\ but reason i wouldnt call a DAW, It's more just a sequencer. Also the thing about Record also is that it wont have audio input into the Mixer/Racks via rewire (same with reason). So it would be great if it did act as a host DAW which has an audio input stream rather than just output rewire.

Of course, they could always just throw that idea out and remake the program into something more like Ableton / Cubase / Logic, I guess. I think that would be a shame.

It's possible. They could for example program a wrapper for hosting VST's within reason and keep the setup of reason.

After looking the video, here is my take on it. It's pretty cool, but it is no product that fills a gap in the market and it doesn't improve what's out there. I personally never liked the Fx in reason so for mixing audio in Record is a no for me.

Imo, it looks more like what reason 5.0 should be if Record was integrated in reason. Reason needs audio support. There is no excuse for it because Hardware workstations can do this which Reason competes again. To release a seperate product for this is a bit strange for being a "workstation" that Reason is supposed to be.

Yeah, theres no reason why they couldn't get that working reasonably well. And theres no real reason that they need to have those pretty animated cables anyway. If you want a DAW buy cubase/ableton/logic. If you want a pretty animated game then buy reason IMO.

You guys seem to forget how common Reason is in education. If you do an audio engineering course at a university, it is the first thing that gets thrown at you, because the university doesn't want to mess around with plugins. Having a completely encapsulated environment to work in has many benefits. This is the Propellerhead niche.

Plus it's modular nature is very Intuitive than other DAW software i think as signal flow is more present without going through many different gui screens etc.

But i admit cant wait to test it.

I find it all but intuitive. It takes me shitloads of time to get my rack properly sorted before I could get anything started. I think it's interface is clumsy and messy. It doesn't work for me. It does provide some insight on how things would have been (working) if you had real hardware though. On other DAW's you can see what's going on in an eyedrop, I need to hunt cables down in Reason if I want to know what's happening.
