I have not had LASIK surgery, but several people close to me have and I'm seriously considering it. It would be absolutely idiotic to not get the lifetime warrantee. I don't know if the technology has changed enough in the last few years, but it used to be that the surgery was only good for a 10 year run, give or take. Around that 10 year mark, your vision may begin to falter. Having the lifetime warrantee allows you to have "touch up" procedures done at no cost.

Smart man. I can't stress how important this is. Although make sure it is a company that has a high likelihood of staying in business through this recession.

The same "life-span" still applies. It has nothing to do with technology, and everything to do with your body and getting old. It is just a matter of life. As they say, your mileage may vary. Fortunately, the technology has improved a good amount in the last 5 years, that these procedures are easy and "routine" in the industry.

I got back from the surgery

Everything went very smoothly, they numbed my eyes, taped my eyelids down so that I couldn't blink, then they had me look at a blinking red light the entire time. they marked where my cornea flap needed to be lifted, and they lifted it up. I literally couldn't see shit except the distant red light and the silhouettes of the doctors. the laser lasted about 20 seconds, then the flap was put back on. Both eyes were very painless to do, and they used absolute state of the art equipment. It was very quick and easy. I took a cat nap while my mother went to a doctors appointment, and when I woke up, I could read street signs with no problem.

I have 4 different kinds of eye drops to take on a scheduled basis, by tomorrow my discomfort in the eyes should be gone, but I still need to take the drops.

The whole thing was about $4300, including the lifetime insurance on them. Hopefully by tomorrow I can reap the full benefits of it. At the moment, I'm wearing my sunglasses and about to crawl back in bed. Anyone who is considering LASIK should absolutely take the plunge, just take it from me. Absolutely incredible difference.

Congrats! Welcome to the club.

out of interest, who's providing the life time cover on this? the individual operator who may not be around in 10 years or your health insurance company?

This touches on one of my previous responses about making sure the place will be in business after this recession. Unfortunately, it is only guaranteed by the operator. It is a risk you take sadly.

I'm not debating that specific issue numb-nuts, I'm debating your holier than thou attitude in general in this thread.

Just went for my follow up appointment, and my vision is now 20/20. Pretty incredible stuff. The only problem was that they noticed a small indentation where the eyedropper accidentally touched my eye. They make you wear these goofy goggles when you go to sleep at night, most uncomfortable, awkward things ever. Hard to fall asleep with those fucking things on.

For 4300 bucks, you would have thought they could design a pair of goggles that actually fit on your eyes, and cost maybe a tad more than 0.35 cents to make. Cheap sons of bitches.
