lots of reasons... but it basically comes down to two big ones.

1) i've been incredibly homesick lately. i miss my mom and my brother and all the things i love about NY - big city, beautiful landscape, good hiking, delicious pizza, more diversity/culture, better weather (not perfect but certainly better than Wisconsin), better music scene, more interesting people, etc

it was a great experience to be here, especially for the fact that i had my independence, got to party yet still lived comfortably, met a lot of great people and gained some amazing experience at my job... it's just time to move on, and i feel like moving back home is the obvious answer to my happiness.

Totally understandable. Are you going to look for a job once you get home, take a small little break, or already have one when you move?

Me, personally, I cannot live so far away from my family like you are right now. My parents and I have moved everywhere together lol California and back (different cities but a few hours away from each other). I HAVE to see my mom every weekend or I freak out.

and considering my mom would be devastated and very disappointed in me if she knew i smoked, i think i owe it to her (and myself) to kick the habit before i take residence in her house again.

that was the reason I quit cold turkey when I moved back to India last year. I didn't want my folks to know I smoked. From about 4 packs a week I came down to 0. The drastic change in my life style when I moved back to India, helped mask the drastic change due to quitting.

that's something i'm still trying to figure out. i really could use a break but i can't realistically afford to take one - i need the insurance and the paycheck... but i'll be able to get by for a while since i won't have to pay rent. i'm going to start sending resumes out next month but i have a feeling it will be a lot easier to look for jobs and go on interviews once i'm actually out there. until i find one i can always make extra money doing freelance.

when i left NY i was still too young to understand the importance of being close to my family. i was just looking to get away and have my independence and create my own life away from where i grew up. i've changed a lot since then, and living out here on my own without any real support system (other than friends and families of the guys i've dated) has taught me a lot and made me a stronger person.

on the surface, i followed a guy out here. but there was also a lot that i was running away from. i realized pretty quickly that running away doesn't fix anything. i'm still the same person unless i make changes in myself, not where i live.

i don't regret it one bit. i still think it was one of the best decisions i've made in my life.

it's a great place. do you think it's a realistic option for you?

i'll be living about 40 miles north of Manhattan at first, but i'd eventually like to move closer or into the city. it's all going to depend on where i find a job though.
