Probably not what most people consider metal, but I've been digging Black Tide Lately. Their album is pretty solid all the way through. I was particularly impressed by the fact that they were all between 15 and 20 when their first album was released. A pretty good debut album in my opinion.

A few songs:

Shockwave (youtube)
Shout (youtube)
Warriors of time (youtube)
Show me the way (youtube)

Check em out if you haven't heard of them. Not for everyone, but I enjoy them.

Some of my favorites:
Mastodon
Older In Flames (Clayman Album)
Blotted Science
Protest the Hero
Blueprints for Human Extinction

Not normally a big fan of "Doom Metal", but 'Krux - Sea of Doom' is pretty fkn awesome.

Here's a video of my friend (drummer of Blueprints for Human Extinction) wailing away.

They're interesting, to say the least. Saw them last year when they played in Stockholm.

WAT.

I'm more into the prog-metal/rock stuff like Porcupine Tree tbh, but I appreciate most metal as long as growling/screaming isn't too dominating

I've listened to Porcupine Tree more than i've listened to any other band the last three years or so, they're my heroes. Not strictly a 'metal band', but sure, they can get quite heavy.

Yeah, mostly prog-rock.
Going to see them for the third time in October here in Oslo, looking forward to the new album

The Incident
06-12-2009
Porcupine Tree are happy to announce the forthcoming release of their tenth studio album "The Incident". The record is set to be released via Roadrunner Records worldwide on 21st September, as a double CD. The centre-piece is the title track, which takes up the whole of the first disc. The 55-minute work is described as “a slightly surreal song cycle about beginnings and endings and the sense that ‘after this, things will never be the same again’.” The self-produced album is completed by four standalone compositions that developed out of band writing sessions last December - Flicker, Bonnie The Cat, Black Dahlia, and Remember Me Lover feature on a separate EP length disc to stress their independence from the song cycle. Video footage of the band in the studio working on The Incident, as well as audio previews, will be available online soon. The band will tour extensively to promote the album from mid September onwards.
