Meh, looks boring.

But then I suppose if you have been DJing for a long time even DJing can seem like any other job and be mundane at times.

Was actually reading some of the posts on youtube from people about this, argueing which one is the most real... the answer is, NONE OF THEM, THEY ARE TOYS!!!!

But who knows, perhaps its what the dance music industry needs, yet another wave of people who want to be DJs, because there just aren't enough DJs these days to cope with the club demand.

Seriously though, I think if you buy this for the DJ experience you will be disapointed, but if you buy it as a game, I can't see why it couldn't be fun if you like that sort of stuff.

The fact that kids will now start doing air scratch instead of air guitar is kind of frightening. It would just be weird.

I do support this game in one aspect though. It will get more kids into EDM, that's a pretty cool thing imo. I think right now, kids listen to rock because of Guitar Hero and because they're parents (usually dad) most likely listen to rock. So now we have a bunch of kids wearing Pink Floyd t-shirts and listening to Led Zeppelin, Metallica, etc. Maybe we'll start seeing kids listening to Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, etc. I'm sure most people here would agree that those guys are just commercial, superstar DJ's, etc. but still, as long as kids get introduced to the genre I think we have some hope of trance and EDM in general becoming a more popular thing then it is atm.

Maybe it's a little far-fetched but it's possible.

Because if more people listen to EDM, EDM becomes more popular, people want more EDM, better EDM is released.

It's a simple concept, really. Though the last step can go both ways, we might just get more shit.

That's the most flawed logic I've ever seen.

I realize it's not totally certain, that's why I said this:

That's kind of what I said, that's why this game could be a good thing in that respect. Also, 20 years would put us back to 1989, that's a little too far back, don't you think? So you're saying everything after '90 was shit?

More people who enjoy EDM can't be a bad thing, surely?

More demand for the music, more airplay and more DJs needed.

But I think for the game to actually have an effect on EDM it would probably need a celeb endorsement by way of Eddie Halliwell i.e. someone who is relevant to turntablism of sorts but at the same time covers our genre.

Until then it looks like Hip Hop and RnB would only stand to benefit.

Note: There is a very strange bitterness within the EDM industry at the moment and sometimes I get the impression that many (not all specifically related to this forum) are happy to wallow in misery and just look back on the golden years. Just get on with it and take it to where it needs to go.

This console is a toy, and that's what it's meant to be. Nothing more.

What you have to remember about guitar hero is that it came in to an existing market of high demand for rock music. The new game also enters a market of high demand for Rap etc, it's not a device that creates a musical movement in itself.

What we do in terms of EDM DJing or producing would be very difficult to market as a fun game. Or at least to present it as a fun alternative.

Actually I applaud the people that buy turntables and realize "this isnt easy" and sell their equipment because they know they will never put the time into it to get good. Its allways awkward when you hear people say they can DJ that leave their equipment sitting idle in an attic to bring it out to make for very funny and sad momments at clubs and houseparties everywhere.
