Yeah you can get coronal, saggital and axial images if you want, you can also get T1 or T2 weighted images (gradient or spin-echo). They give you different information.
What they mean by cloistered conditions is that the bore of an MRI is quite narrow, so you need to have some very thin people to fit in there if they are having it off.
