The reasoning for A is something along the lines of this:
If something is private and you don't want others to understand, you can say it quietly or use another language. If it's not meant for others to hear, then you don't have to bellow it - english or not.


I haven't even considered this from the point of view of someone using their mother tongue because their English isn't strong enough. That being the case - ya, this woman is a cunting hag.

But my guess is still that those guys were being loud and annoying.

some live here for 10+ years and are even married and have kids and can't speak more than a few basic words of Japanese, and will constantly bitch about stuff like "job discrimination" when they can't find a job other than English teaching or headhunting or something. Of course, they can only complain in English since their Japanese is too rudimentary, so nobody except for fellow bitchy expats listens to them anyway.

mmmmz my point on this topic is... if you started to live in another country and you are planning on staying there, then you simply learn the language. but I understand that people who are on a holiday can´t speak that language. anyways most (flemish side) belgian people, when they travel they will try to speak the language of the country they are in. french in france, german in germany, english in england and so on. or they would take a small dictionary with them (and try to speak the language).
but for example when I´m getting a durum or a kebab in belgium, i simply hate it when the employees talk arabic or whatever when I or other people are in their restaurant. They could just be laughing with you, without you even knowing it.

it happens worldwide to be honest. You get lots of people from asian countries, chinese, pakistani, arabs etc who don't try to speak a word of the language here, like you get the english or whatever there. I think it's polite to actually try to speak some of the language of whatever place you're in and usually the locals appreciate effort if not accuracy.

However if you're planning to live in another country, you should at least make an effort to integrate or else

a) you're cheating yourself of opportunities
b) you're as bad as the people you moan about here.

I think people are mixing issues here. If you permanently move to a country sure you should learn the language, but if you're having a private conversation around strangers who have no business listening to you anyway, you should feel free to speak whatever bloody language you want.
