for example femurs and pelvic bones in whales.
this also occurs in snakes
goosebumps in humans (we are hairless it serves no purpose).
the appendix was thought to be vestigial because it was infectious and when removed people lived better lives without it. Obviously new evidence comes up all the time when dealing with evolutoin and vestigial accounts. Mose family trees and clades are hypothesized and there is always contraversy in their ranking and relationship. Science is always changeing. Errors and corrections in science isn't a means to say humans are ignorant and the theories are simply vague guesses. Theory's change from time to time. Look at Newtons kinematic equations dealing with velocity and time as costant. Used for hundreds of years now they have been disproven by einstein as time is no longer considered constant, but instead relative. Its the fine print behind evolution the minor details which change frequently as new evidence is brought to the table (cladistics).
Back to the appendix. it didn't "CLEARLY" serve a purpose as explained in the article since the purpose was just recently found out.
Unless you have some hard evidence to bring to the table before you call generations of scientists who study this stuff day in and day out ignorant, i suggest you do some research.
When i mean ignorant i mean simply this "the state of being uneducated or uninformed" and i am particularly interested in the latter. And, when i speak of this i speak of it in general terms in so far that we are quick to refute possibilities from time to time when scientific scrutiny fails to provide adequate outcome. Perhaps naive would have been a better word to use. And yes i agree with you as there is always possibility, and of course two sides or more to every argument.
but i also stand by your opinion as i never really precluded to any absolute idea i merely presented a possibility.

Fair enough. My impression was that you were using this case to refute the theory of evolution by saying all vestigial organs serve a purpose.
maybe i jumped the gun a bit

New medications work in sync with the appendix and can cure cancer, AIDS, and swine flu

Re: Re: Appendix considered more valuable then WE thought
So it's another theory? I think it's an interesting one but they clearly haven't found any solid, earth shattering data yet. Makes sense though that the appendix would at least have some sort of use.
I'm very interested in the part about them possibly using it to actually aid in medicine. Now that would be a great find.

That's wrong. They do serve the same purpose as before just less efficiently. I don't know about you but I'm not hairless and neither is any other human I've ever met

and would we also use our vestigial tail for balance when runing?
Lets be a bit rational here. The lack of hair on a human body would make for a faulty warning system against predators.

Warning system? Huh? Goosebumps are designed for warmth not to warn against predators
