The Big Picture
There are around 80,000 high school kids in the festival. That is around 1/3 of the high school students in the bay area. Next year, it would not be a surprise that around 1/2 of the high school kids show up in the festival. With the right coordination and promotion, within a few years, EDM COULD become a dominant music genre in the Bay Area.
In another words, LovEvolution is doing very nice promotion for the EDM scene in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, the promotional effect is very much restricted within the Bay Area. If EDM DJs and promoters in other places want a piece of that, they would have to come up there own version of LovEvolution.
One thing I notice is that there is no effort on keeping the kids' interest in EDM. There are no after parties for them. And there aren't any EDM events specifically for kids throughout the year, either. Yea, I think I know why that is: 1) you can't sell alcohol to kids. 2) It is difficult to get permits. 3) We need to make money now.

another great year celebrating my birthday in SF for The Love!
started at tyrant for lee and craig richards, great way to start my weekend, some serious mind fuck tracks were dropped and 5 hours of some interesting tag teaming going on
then off to my friends condo to continue partying into saturday morning. by 9:30 am i thought it best to head back to my room to get ready for the parade. met up with a couple more friends then off to dance along side all the different floats.
i chose to walk this year, i like being able to move through the crowd following the different floats, dancing to friends sets who are spinning and waving to all my different friends riding the floats. i like to move, i'm too hyperactive to be stuck in one spot for too long so for me it was a perfect way to experience the parade.
i danced by the listed float pretty much all day but did make it over to the spundae float to show my support and give/get love from all the people over there. i love the spundae family and all they do for the scene!
walking around was a bit of a challenge but i managed to walk the perimeter and it was slightly easier, less people. the sun felt great on our little corner of Listed and for the most part i didn't see too many under age inappropriateness going on. it's really hard for me to see kids getting beyond fcked up, i teach kids that age and it really bothers me, makes me sad. but as i said, i saw very little of that so i had an amazing day at the parade! it is always my favorite part of the weekend.
went home saturday night and crashed only to wake up super early to get to The End Up by 6-7 am. was ready for my 13 hour marathon there and loved every minute of it. i love that that place allows ins and outs, so you can go eat, refresh, etc.
i was sorry to miss so many TA's this year but not walking around that much once the floats were parked was probably part of it. i was so glad i made it over to spundae though, got to see quite a few friendly TA faces there but the music at listed always draws me back so back is where i went.
i love going to this every year, 5th time and probably one of my favorites! i love the spirit behind it and the great music and people it draws every year. thank you again for another lovely time this year SF!
