You play it on the dancefloor, it goes off. The only people who find it "chill" are tactless trancecrackers used to blowing their loads at full-speed in two hour quickies.

Chill out, dude, it's just fucking music.

Some people would prefer this in a club, some people would prefer it on a fucking sofa. Get over it.

No, fuck off. I'm still annoyed at the whole J00F debacle on Friday, and after wasting good money I feel justified in being annoyed at this "slam it down for two hours" mentality of trance jocks who've no idea about pacing and structuring a whole night.

I don't want to ruin Domesticated's thread, but you like many other people on this forum are an elitist prick without the slightest bit of tolerance for other people's tastes in music. I like face melting full-on psytrance, groovy prog-psy, and even certain types of house. Make fun of me, go ahead. But Domesticated's thread doesn't deserve your incessant bitching about your hatred for trance DJ's. I don't give the slightest fuck what type of club experience you would prefer, but quit blanketing this whole forum with your retarded fucking stereotypes.

But go ahead, make fun of Magadansky for liking Goa trance and listening to this set on the couch. Make fun of me for being a "trance cracker" that blows my load at full speed for 2 hours. Say whatever you want, you're still a snobby, elitist fuck.

I'd like to change the subject back to Krousis. This set was tasty music, regardless of your musical preference. Those who haven't listened need to do so.

And you're one of the forum's most over-sensitive wet blankets, who throws a tantrum at the slightest provocation. Man the fuck up. If you paid attention to my posts around this forum, you'd probably realise I have plenty of tolerance. You're only throwing around these accusations because your ego has (needlessly) taken a knock from my opinion on shit trance DJs.

Actually, I'm sure he's pleased I'm keeping his mix at the top of Page 1, where it will get far more downloads than if it was allowed to drop off onto the next page. I wish people would come into my threads and argue about semi-related topics. Feel free to bombard my next mix with insults about my snobbish prickish nature.

I'm not making fun of you or Magadansky, you fucking pussy, unless you count a jokey "grooveless speed demon" comment as a cutting insult. The last comment wasn't even directed at you.

I hardly consider myself a "wet blanket" that throws a fit over anything unless it's a direct personal insult. Show me the last time I had a heated debate with someone over petty bullshit. You threw a fit over J00F because some lame trance DJ's were playing before him and the club didn't put together a decent cohesive sound. I simply think all the hatred of other people's taste in the Music Discussion forum has gotten to your head, and you getting pissed off that some people prefer this on the sofa as opposed to a club got under my skin.

You play good music, and you're well-learned on the technical side of most EDM, but you have something against trance and the people who listen to it, and it's getting quite tiresome. I'm sure you really are tolerant of most genres, but the posts I've seen in MD make me think otherwise.

I'm sorry if you think I'm too sensitive, but my opinion has clearly pissed you off and I'M the one throwing a tantrum? Please.

EDIT: The dance music/club scene has changed over the years, and there are plenty of dumbasses who get their rocks off to Basshunter, Lady Gaga and AVB's vocal trance. That's probably why the trance DJ's at the club you went to sucked ass. I wasn't trying to defend those guys, I was just saying that some people like that type of shit. Your comment about how people who find this set "chill" were tactless trancecrackers was unnecessary, that's all I'm saying.

I'm actually rather enjoying it. Pretty much every trance jock I've seen in the past 4 or so years has had about as much subtlety as a howitzer, starting with their biggest tracks, and slamming it out for two hours. It's fucking frustrating. Gone are the days of seeing van Buuren open with 125 BPM progressive house and finish with 140 BPM trance 6 hours later.

Well, I've read a few armin-only tracklists and it seems that when when he plays 6 hour sets he does start slower and pick it up as time goes on.

I think the lack of musical progression in major parties/festivals is more the fault of the promoters and the scene as a whole rather than the individual DJ's. Everyone knows that Jon O'Bir plays tactless big-room trance. For him to show up at a party and play deep prog because his 1am timeslot is "too early" for his music would be silly. Big room trance is the style that he's built his name around and his fans and the party promoters expect it from him. Throwing the punters, the vast majority of whom don't give a rats ass about "flow," an unexpected curveball of a set could potentially damage his reputation in that town which is a risk he can't afford to take as a person who makes a living off the fickle tastes of clubgoers.

Most club nights around here at least will have a local opener and the headliner and thats it. That's great for the flow of the evening because nobody expects anything out of the opener so he can play whatever he needs to build the night before the headliner comes on. With the big multi-headliner parties you see contracts and DJ-politics come into play, with the result that timeslots tend to be determined based on some loose definition of popularity rather than music style, and so you get stuff like your J00F night with poorly arranged timeslots and the occasional disappointed scenester.

Still, the punters keep coming back, so theres no incentive for anything to change. As a clubgoer you just have to know what's up and make your plans accordingly.

In my pothead thread in the COR, I made a quip about some obvious advice you gave me, and you threw a hissy fit and told me to stop acting like a prick. In Meat187's genre challenge thread, someone made a joke about you trainwrecking in Traktor and you threw a lot of insults at them. You were extensively trolled in the COR by Jay after you posted a picture of your girlfriend. Despite repeatedly insisting you didn't care, you argued for several pages and posted more pictures.

Basically, you can't take the slightest bit of ribbing or ball-busting without getting stroppy. I've never once seen you give a quip back and engage in any banter.

And I don't have anything against trance. I like trance. Much of my favourite music is trance. I only dislike what trance has become, and all the stupidity and mutual tolerance of bullshit that has allowed it to steadily degrade into a joke genre.

This is the kind of thing I'm railing against. Just because something is widespread doesn't mean we should quietly tolerate it. This is a DIY scene where everyone's involvement counts, and the moment we become resigned to the higher powers of money-minded promoters and egotistical DJs we may as well pack up and go home.

The main reason I write about dance music is not because I think my opinion is more worthwhile than anyone else's or I know more, but because there's so much bullshit that needs shouting out against. And the more of us who shout out, the more new kids or up-and-coming DJs realise that what they're used to isn't necessarily the right way to do things.

I feel you there. It just seemed like you were only blaming O'Bir because the night had poor flow when there were way more factors to consider.

I think that expecting headliner trance DJ's to adjust their playing style based on timeslot in todays EDM scene is just being too idealistic because the realities of the trance scene do not support outside the box dj-ing. It's something to appreciate when it does happen, but you just have to expect the worst or you'll find yourself perpetually disappointed.

The thing with Jay was definitely a personal insult, but that's about it. The traktor thing was taken slightly out of hand, I shouldn't have gotten mad at that dude for complaining about software. And I didn't think I threw a hissy fit over your comment in the pothead thread, I just called you a prick

There's a difference between jokingly giving someone shit, and calling them out on something. I don't see what the point is in trolling people, I don't really care for the constant "ball-busting" that goes on in this forum. I'm not the type of person to dish out insults to people, and don't really appreciate receiving them, so that makes me a pussy?

I agree with you here, trust me, I think most people are disappointed with trance these days, which is why so many people are tired of it. I just don't understand the constant tirade against it, not just by you, but the whole forum. If some people still like it, that's their preference.

The whole point to this silly argument we've been having is that if Magadansky and I want to listen to this set on the sofa, it should be acceptable.
