Right.. I was just rambling along. The thread starter seems to wanna know what PC components
to get, rather that getting persuaded to buy a mac. Let´s not derail his thread any further, and rather give him
advice on the topic. I have no advice, so I´ll keep out :P Though I´d get the i7 cpu, if I was gonna
by a PC today.

If you want to use OSX, get a Mac. Hackintoshs are unstable as has been said.

If you want to use Windows and have no plan to use OSX then why in Gods name would you buy a Mac? Stability? Please
You're going to pay more, be limited in upgrades and God forbid you need to repair something.

I can't believe we still have this discussion these days. Both work well and both Operating Systems are fine. Mac zealots ---> WE DON'T CARE. Stop being those annoying children who keep running around yelling "Look at me!".
WE
DON'T
CARE

i am curious to know if anyone has ever bought a mac desktop then gone back to pc ?

I hate the mac company and the retail stores in general but despite my skepticism, I am very satisfied with my purchase. I feel that alot of people that say macs are dumb have never really invested time and money to get a proper set up.

And with the 5 year warranty upgrade , I Just don't have that anxiety of something just breaking like i did with pcs.

And i find mac alot more stable than pc. All my software is legit tho and most of it is sample libraries so perhaps I just don't do the type of thing on it that would elicit crashes. I also have a good soundcard so maybe the people experiencing bugs ( lets not count snow leapord ) just need a better interface ?

I find it absolutely ridiculous that any studio using pc is still using xp. Its been 8 fucking years.

What is that warranty for?

Why would you switch operating systems if the one you are using is working?

- it does everything you need.
- official xp support ends April 8, 2014.
- apple usually only fully support two concurrent releases. at the current release rate, full support for snow leopard will end around 2012-2013.
- you fail.

on the mac its like 5 seconds.

we have a few updates automatically downloaded every month or so, you upgrade your entire OS every ~18 months. lol. the mac release cycle is a joke, but that's what you get with an immature product. http://static.arstechnica.com/20090...-x-timeline.png

pc laptops have had synaptics for years, this is nothing special. http://www.synaptics.com/solutions/products/touchpad

point remains, mac touchpads still have no right click. even if pcs didn't have synaptics, mac touchpads would still suck - what would be the point in being able to zoom and shit if you couldn't even right click with one finger? lol.

virtually every pc oem offers extended warranties. are you seriously that blind that you think this is some kind of mac god feature? lol.

oh, here's another fun fact for mac elitists: my laptop was made by the same company as your mac, as are most peoples "shitty pcs". lolpwned.

AND YOU THOUGHT APPLE ACTUALLY MADE THEIR OWN LAPTOPS, RIGHT?

There's no need. Win7 uses virtually the same drivers as Vista and most of those are ready to go. Vista was the whipping boy for MS, Win7 can sprint right off the bat.

Of course there will always be some bugs to iron out but from all reports it's almost rock solid already.

except that with the mac warranty, they exchange it on the spot. Have you actually ever used the warranty for pc hardware save for hardrives ? I've waited weeks.

I"m curious to how many hour a week you spend maintaining your pc ?
I would also have to constantly do registry repairs, disk defragmentations ....

maybe you enjoy that kind of stuff.
I just want things to work.

Are you trolling?
Defrag with a decent processor takes an hour and you can do it every couple of months.
Registry repairs? Errr never if you don't fuck something up.
Cleaning junk like random crap you save and all that? Well that's pretty normal on any OS or is Snow Leopard hooked up to your brain and automatically deletes anything you don't want? I wasn't aware we were 50 years in the future.
