I really wouldn't subscribe to such a highly idealistic description of reality, as you exist out there even if I don't ever acknowledge your existence.
But, in a more personal level, you're right. That's why I said she could find solace in that, but her reaction cannot affect my decision, as I won't be able to perceive it.
All other things being equal, then, my point remains. If I find a purpose in my death, I can embrace it, and I can only do that before I die (i.e. while I'm alive). In that case, won't it be true that I lived my life the way I wanted until my last breath? Sure, I could also choose otherwise, but I'd then lead a life I don't want for me.

first of all, i personally feel that dreams only "mean" something if you want them to, or if you perceive that they should have some meaning in relation to your life. so yeah, if it affected you either positively or negatively, it means *something* to you- so think about why it does, and what you would do instead to alleviate that situation/feeling.
that's not the only theory on dreams, though it's one of them (and seems to make the most sense for most people in most situations). the other two are that dreams are a vehicle for wish fulfillment, and a vehicle for conflict resolution.
i've had a lot of vivid dreams lately, some are obviously wish fulfillment, and some just seem like nothing more than entertainment. for example, i had a dream that half of the crew of "the office" teamed up with me against michael scott during a nuclear fallout just the other day. totally random but there was a big, complicated plot and everything (that actually made sense). lol
and who would i *die* for? i think that's an unfair question and while some people can say hypothetically what they think they would do, i think when the situation arose they may do otherwise (totally dependant on the situation though). a better one would be, "who would you risk your life for?" i would risk my life for my best, closest friends, my SO, and my kids. and i suppose any "greater good" scenario, again, depending on the situation. |
true. i have a recurring nightmare that goes dormant and comes back and it's always the same theme. some evil spirit is present in the room or wherever the dream takes place, and it's trying to jump in my body and i'm fighting it. i wake up terrified, it's actually really shitty when it happens.
anyway i'm convinced the evil spirit represents my mom. lolol i only seem to have it when i feel like she's invading my space or being too overbearing.

do you and your mom not get along or something? i have three recurring dreams that happen pretty often (and before, when i was younger, i never had recurring dreams). one is where i'm escaping/fighting off zombies. one is where i'm escaping a fucked up mansion where someone is locking me up and performing tests on me- and at the end i always end up climbing out a back window and hopping a fence behind the mansion. the last one is where i'm on a bus- that one just started happening recently and has recurred multiple times in the last week. i dunno why that shit happens.

Last night I dreamed that my gf and I were kidnapped by three people, one man and two women. They were going to torture us and our hands were tied behind our backs. The guy went in to another room to answer the phone, and while he did that my gf managed to get her hands out of the ties and undo mine as well. Then I found a knife somehow and managed to stab all three people to death. I really went to town on the last one, a woman, stabbing her a bunch of times in the chest and stomach and then slicing pretty much all the way through her neck at the end.
Before that I dreamed about giant insects (3+ feet long, 1+ feet high) devouring people in a pharmacy store.
These are fairly normal dreams for me. My subconscious is apparently full of death and carnage.
