Actually, the correct way to merge into another lane is to slow down and move in behind the other vehicle. The other vehicle is to maintain the speed they are going.
The other driver had every right to be upset at you...you should have your licence taken away since you obviously don't know how to drive. |
Actually no, not in this country, but nice try. We employ the zipper effect, meaning whoever has their nose in front has the right to be in front. In effect this usually means one car from left lane, one car from right lane, alternating back and forth, hence the term 'zipper'.

When I went back to Ontario this summer, I rented a car to get around. So I had my mom (who has cancer and is quite delicate) and my 87 year old grandmother in the car with me since I was taking them to dinner.
I am in the left lane waiting at a stop light. The fools turning left on their advanced green on the other side end up getting stuck in the middle of the intersection because there were too many cars, thus blocking the right lane beside me from moving forward.
So the light turns green, and I start to move ahead when out of nowhere this fucking moron in the right lane decides that if she can't go straight because the cars are blocking her, she should suddenly just swerve almost right into me. She literally missed my car by an inch.
I slammed on the breaks, honked and yelled "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" but quickly realized that my granny and mom were sitting there with me. Had my mom and granny not been in the car, I was so angry I am pretty sure I would have followed her and given her an earful. However, I think having my granny and mom in the car was what made me so angry... that some asshole was endangering my family.
Not to mention, if she had hit me, my already high insurance rate would have skyrocketed, and I would have had to pay the stupid rental co. I am way too poor for that (lol).
Biggest pet peeves:
People who don't fucking signal. I think you should have your license taken away if you can't figure out how to push the little lever to indicate where you are going.
There have been so many times where unexpectedly someone comes flying into my lane and I have to slam on the breaks, or I wont turn left because the oncoming retard isn't signaling that they are turning right. Or when I am going into the middle lane and someone on the other side decides to come in without signaling from the other far lane and almost hitting me. Or the retards who look pissed off at me for not letting them in when they didn't fucking signal and then shoved their way in all of a sudden.
It seriously takes NO FUCKING EFFORT to signal!! If you can't do it, then you probably are too inept to drive.
I get passenger rage about this too... haha! I have snarkily said to some of my friends driving who are bitching about not being 'let in' that maybe it would help if they signaled because obviously their telepathy isn't working.
The people who weave in and out of traffic also piss me off, or change lanes for no reason. Like, when the cars are backed up for ages and no one can move, do you really think this is the time to fucking change lanes?!? The other lanes are not moving any faster retard, and your changing lanes is only slowing things down even more.
I haven't ever witnessed serious road rage, but I can understand why some people get so pissed off. Stupid ass driving puts other peoples lives on the line, and if my life is threatened because of someones ignorance, it gets me really angry. I don't think I would get into a physical altercation over it though.

I thought Canadian drivers were pretty polite. Maybe it's because we were driving a truck camper so everybody could see we were tourists, but still, it was a breeze compared to some of the fuckwits over here. |
generally they are, but it's how they manage to do so whilst interchanging between lanes without any reason to do so, if they drove like that here (when we already have some awful drivers, we call them 'mothers') and it'd have more piles than the people on Jennys "list"
