after finding out WHY the generator blew I am now mad at idiot ravers instead of Fresh. A bunch of idiot kids plugged their cell phone chargers into the generator causing it to overheat and start smoking. Andy Moor, Duderstadt, and Myon/Shane54 all delivered BANGING sets... seriously Myon and Shane banged out one of the best trance sets my ears have ever heard. its just a shame some stupid kids had to ruin the music for the rest of us!

wow if that is true thats awfull. Though maybe placing the generator somewhere away from everyone would have made sense.

Only thing I have to knock Myon & Shane54 for playing Broken Tonight. I mean of all the Armin songs to choose, I think that track has the most amateur and insincere vocals. If they wanted to go with a better new Armin track they shoulda played Tuvan or perhaps Tuvan (Andy Blueman Remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98C4HfV17Tc&fmt=18

The rest was pretty good though. Personally I enjoyed Andy Moor and Duderstadt more though with the set ending early perhaps I'll have to reserve my judgement on Myon & Shane54 to just their first half.

haha i dont know if it is true, but its the only explaination i've heard or been given from anybody regarding the equipment failure. anyways the party was really well put together besides the equipment failure, fresh booked a great trance lineup. im expecting gareth emery for Fresh Anniversary

Lol, I agree. A cellphone charger pulls about 5-20 watts. A speaker amp is pulling several thousand. I highly doubt that was the cause. And, wouldn't security prevent people from bringing chargers in since they can be used as weapons?

yup, it's obviously a bs reason. And since when can you plug directly INTO the generator? I don't think generators are easily accessible.

that is the funniest thing ive heard. I highly doubt that cell phone chargers took out the generator.

however, I Know that Sean Tyas will be here in February for the next fresh party

Hah, this really is the funniest excuse I've ever read for a generator outage!!

To give an idea of how little power cellphone charging can use, the Macbook USB ports have about 500 milliamps (which is why it sucks for good, big external USB drives you want to only power through the USB port -- gotta often use a power-assist cable) and that can charge an iphone. USB2.0 ports are 4.75-5volts.

Let's take the high end

5V * .5A = 2.5 watts

So it can charge an iphone with only 2.5watts power. And these phones beat up a generator. funny

So the official reason for the generator going out is the person in charge of the generators only filled it up 1/2 way, and did not have extra gas at the venue in case of emergency. I'm sure he no longer has this job after Saturday.

That's another pretty funny excuse if you ask me.

Just say it failed and they didn't have a backup (as they should have had) to put in. Generators fail, it happens. But that's why you have at leat one backup for a big event like this.

Generators tend to have guidelines to go by for gas if you aren't gonna fill it up. There should be info for them to see how much gas is needed per hour versus how much power is being used out of the machine.

They are prob finding reasons to not blame themselves in order to prevent refunds. Even if that is true (which is just as bad of an excuse), no matter what it's their responsibiilty unless it's an act from outside (like a power grid going down) their control.

I'm sure Tim will make his way to this thread for an official statement soon
