Why would you even want to make someone like them less? Like anything less? I'd rather find more things to enjoy than go the opposite direction, don't you think?

If you don't like them, that's cool. I was just having some fun with you before. I've just honestly never heard anyone accuse Pink Floyd of being shallow. It makes me think you've heard them in a bad context and this has given you a bad impression of them.

"Another Brick in the Wall" is probably their 2nd most overplayed song, and it's unfortunately been adopted by idiots grabbing onto the line "We don't need no education", which is not at all what it's about.

If you are up for giving them another shot, I really recommend checking out the Pulse live DVD. It really is amazing, and might give you a more accurate shot of what they did. It's rare that I find people into dance music culture that haven't had their Pink Floyd phase, whether they stayed with it or not. If you're into the melancholy side, definitely check out The Wall. Pretty moving stuff.

Looking back on what I've written here, it's funny because I sound like such a fan, when I haven't listened to them really in years.

I don't. I just meant to say that, even if I could convince you that their lyrics are somehow shallow (which I think might make you like them less), this is not something I'd like to do.

i bet the girl was pretty
and Vilnius is my hometown)

Hell, šunsnukis was the 4th option

And yeah, she was very cute! She had a funny nose, but that's because she was 1/4 Italian, hehe.

As for Vilnius, I don't know much about the city itself, but I like the name

I'm guessing Pink Floyd wasn't thrown in your face every year of your upbringing, Lira.

Yeah, there's a lot more to it than that. Lira, try listening to the entirety of The Wall one day, then listen to The Downward Spiral immediately afterward. I think you'll finally "get it" -not to imply that you don't, but there's a lot of existential and social value to both of those albums that is extremely easy to overlook if you get caught up in the image of it all.

//Also, Roger left the TV on in the background, blaring, during recording, so you can hear all sorts of television artifacts all over the album. It's almost industrial?!?!?!?!

Not as a child, but I was exposed to it frequently in Middle School/High School.

My dad does like Pink Floyd, but he'd usually listen to bossa nova and mpb (Popular Brazilian Music)... and I never really got into this kind of music.

If you're going to take the time to listen to it, you might as well watch the movie. It'll give you a better understanding of the meaning behind it. Just don't get drunk and have a gun nearby.
