At best he's getting a little more than 1-to-1 odds on his money, which imo isn't worth the call for a %16 chance of winning at showdown.

Like I said before though, that's not saying I wouldn't have called, the postflop bet was almost too cheap not to call (about a sixth of his stack, if I'm doing the math right?) so I would've called hoping to catch a miracle but expecting to fold. If I totally missed I wouldn't feel comfortable bluffing on the turn the way the hand had played out and I have doubts that dwan would've done so (had he missed).

Now that you mention it, I failed to assess the fact that he raised the original bettor so I understand now why he felt he could play his position and his implied hand strength.. again, though, after the turn he pretty much had a made hand, so the only tough decision making he had to do was what action to perform post-flop. And I'm still gonna contend that after the turn he just got lucky, and his opponent just played badly.

Edit: rod you seem to be focusing on the players habits and dispositions which I can't speculate on because I have no idea how either of them play and have only one hand to judge their behaviors on. All good points though.

This calls for a match! I will arraign the table, you two arraign a flight and hotel. We will play til the death...or the loss of $40, whichever is first.

Hey man, i'd love to play with you fellas in a full-seated cash game. I usually play 3-5 no limit, 5-5 plo, or 5-10 omaha hi-lo at the local casino. You still live around vegas right?

I live INSIDE of Vegas.

I stick to 1-2 NL becaue of my lack of bank roll. Also you get a lot of tourist to play 1-2 cause its cheap.

I play 2/5 NLHE and 5/5 NLHE at the local casino, and varied games around the underground games of Toronto. We dont have many PLO games running, but a bunch of my buddies love the game so we run a fun 1/2 PLO High. I visit Vegas twice a year so im definately down for some cash games when I get to swing by. My buddies and I are planning a trip soon, for either reading week or after school semester is done to make a week long trip down there (were all sick degenerate poker heads).

That place is good, so is the Mirage. Excalibur was awesome when they had the electronic dealers. You would get soo many people with large yard Margarettas sitting down. I would have their money within the half hour.

Holiday weekends are the best too.

What's the average/typical buy-in for 1-2NL in your guys' area? The poker room guys here say they will never start a 1-2 no limit because it's "too volatile" of a game. Wtf.

depending on the house, I have seen $60 (min) - $200 max buy in for 1/2. It is volatile. Late at night when teh drunks come out of the clubs you will usually get 2 or 3 that go in almost every hand and waste through 3 or 4 buy ins. sucks when you lose a big hand to them and they lose it easily to someone else the next hand.
