For some, not wanting kids may be selfish (not wanting to give their own time and effort to support the life of another), and for others it's unselfish (not wanting to bring a life into an overpopulated/shitty/doomed world, wanting to adopt rather than have natural kids etc.). In either case, I don't think it's immature at all. If someone can recognize that they are too selfish to take care of another human being, that IMO is far more mature than most of the fools out there who procreate simply because they think that's what they are supposed to do.
As for life being pointless? I disagree. It isn't the mass wide accepted "point to life", but people without kids can enjoy very different lives of travel, learning, helping others etc. and I don't think that's pointless.
