I mean yeah, we all were n00bs at one point or another, but like someone already mentioned it - there is a difference between being a n00b in the scene and being an ignorant asshole who is there to get smashed/high and has NO interest whatsoever in the music being played
and they come in big numbers too
so I'm not sure how good is that tbh...

There's an easy way to get around that atmosphere...

Footwork.

Damned straight,

although you don't want a certain kind of element there (violent rap heads just there b/c of their friends etc) that will be there in eventual large numbers which can cause ruckus (like how Hotel used to have a lot of weirdness, BUT it also had a lot of fun times).
Meh, mebbe I don't know what I'm talking about.

Also very true!

I don't think there is anyone here who can say they weren't a 'noob' at one point in time. However, I wonder how much of that crowd will 'evolve', if you will, into 'tranceaddicts'! hahahaha... by that I mean how many will become 'EDM enthusiants'.

i've waited a week or so to formally introduce myself on these boards now.. and as all of you have been touching on the subject of noobs in the house/trance scene, i figured there wouldn't be a better place to chime in and i'll try to keep it short.

i'm a 23 yr old photographer who's been working professionally for the past three years.. mostly i deal with freelance gigs, doin all sorts of work from corporate/modeling portrait sessions to advertising/product photography.. on the side i've also been doing nightclub photography & promotions for the past few years.

three weekends ago some of my friends dragged me out to see Benny Benassi at Guv.. despite the hundreds of parties that i've thrown/worked, that was the first real "rave" or house music event that i've ever attended. i loved the vibe, and for someone who'd never really listened to house music, i was pretty surprised to find myself getting into the music.. i jus happened to be lookin for a new saturday night to promote/take photos at too, so naturally, i thought Guv on Saturday's would be ideal. who knew that as soon as i looked into promoting for the night, they brought me on-board to start officially this past Saturday with Deadmau5 (quite the treat to start a new night, mind you)

anyways as i started gettin into house music, it was the deadmau5s tiestos and david guetta's.. then it was the crookers and starkillers remixes.. and now, though i'm still an absolute baby to the scene, i can now tell you that i'm primarily into the hard electro house , and that my favourite song of the moment's either Bass Kleph's "Coup D'etat" or Sidney Samson's "Riverside"

point is.. everyone gets into their respective music scenes some way, some how.. and while i grew up on hiphop and will always be a rap head, i'm glad i got into this scene by chance & i can't say i'll ever party at one of my regular weekly hiphop parties the same way again =)

as i continue my "education" - if you will - of house music while working at Guv, i'm lookin forward to meeting some of you over time at these feature events & eventually being able to contribute to the discussion on these forums.. since it was my 3rd time ever at a house music jam, i won't comment on Deadmau5's set, aside from the fact that i thought he did an amazing job of interacting with the crowd & keep everyone's energy up.. my friends who regularly frequent places like Film (hahaha, guess who was there last last weekend for the very first time)/footwork/basement and once upon a time, pulse, tell me that it wasn't as hard as the stuff they're used to.. but speaking from a promoter's point of view, this past Saturday's jam was crazy - pretty sure none of us expected the party to have been as successful as it was..

Jason, no disrespect intended - if here's not the place to post my gallery from the night, feel free to modify my post/signature.. not sure if you'll remember, but I'm the guy who intro'd myself briefly to you on stage prior to deadmau5's set =)

if it's cool with you though, my gallery of 136 photos from Saturday @ Guv can be seen at:
http://www.kaycephotography.com/Dea...t-Dec26th09.php

all (positive OR negative) feedback is greatly appreciated, i'm hoping i took some photos of posters from this site.. i would've walked around more if there was actually room to move in the crowd haha.

ps. great forums/community.. sorry for the long-winded first post =)

Welcome

I really like the 4th photo - purple lazor ftw
But your site is pretty annoying to navigate through. Do you post your photos on facebook?
