agreed with the last part.

for me, I find it irrelevant whether I hit the gym 3-4 times per week or not. and while 8+ hours doesn't consistently happen, I think the key (for me, at least) would be to get up at the same time every day.

my bane has been staying up too late for no particular reason and sleeping in later on the weekends than I do during the week.

thank fuck I have a job that almost lets me come-and-go as I please. the day I move on to something that requires me to be there at 9am (or worse, earlier)...well, I don't want to think about that, although it may be coming very soon

shoppers, health stores, etc.

more info on it here

my brother was prescribed sleeping pills for medication he was taking (obv doctors are gonna prescribe that over melatonin). told him to cut that and take melatonin instead. works even better for him now and hes getting better sleep

I know a few people who swear by melatonin...but like any other supplement, I think it really depends upon the individual. definitely worth investigating before running to the doctor for pills, IMHO.

having said that...for me, Lunesta is awesome. I've avoided the temptation to get a prescription because I think I'd abuse it, lol.

After the shower, I'm good to go, but I'll be damned if I actually get up before hitting the snooze button 3 times.

Advice would be greatly appreciated!

And I am finding this winter harder than ever.
Even after a shower its all I can do to resist the temptations of crawling back in bed.

It takes me 40 minutes to an hour to get out of bed... its pretty ridiculous.

I feel ya. Same fucking boat.

(... but with a twist...)

Monday - Friday, when I *have* to be up by 730 or 8am the lastest, I just *never* want to get up. It's huge-ass struggles for me to get outta bed and into the shower to be ready for work.

And then the weekend comes along and I bloody have trouble sleeping past 730! WHAT THE FUCK! The day(s) I can sleep however late I wish, I fro some reason find that I'm awake *earlier* than during the week! :O

This morning was a perfect example... its 7AM and i just simply couldnt sleep any longer... and I didnt go to bed until 130 last night.

But this whole week, esp Thurs and Fri morning I was hating my life for having to be up by 8...

What gives with this?

I think eventually though you don't see sleep on weekends as a sacrifice...especially if your job is demanding.

I'm pretty much at that point point for wkends generally. Years ago I finally reached that point for Sunday - Thursday nights.

I dont care what partying ill miss by going to bed at a reasonable hoour on a weekday (midnight or before), bc its *absolutely* worth it when u dont feel like ur only operating at 85% at work bc of sleep deprivation..

When you know there's no alarm clock to wake you up in the morning, your body tends to set its own internal "alarm" to when you're supposed to get up.

I actually find it much easier to get up at the right time without an alarm clock - it's just too much of a risk on a work day. Now if you can manage to set your internal clock to about a half hour before the real alarm, when you absolutely need to be up, then you're set. I actually pulled it off a little over a year ago but it only lasted a month or two.

I'm def not a morning person, but I wake up at 6:30 everyday. I hate it and wish i didn't, but I do.

The trick for me is that my alarm clock is REALLY loud and it's on the other side of my room, so I basically have to get out of bed to turn it off. Once I'm up, and walk across my room to turn it off, the hard part's done. I have a pre-programmable coffee machine that I load up before I go to bed, so at 6:30 my coffee's ready for me... it's a good routine

Wow, that something really interesting to think about.

Jesus, wish I could taken advantage of that natural phenomenon Monday - Friday, but as you said, ya, too much of a risk on work day when you *must* be there by a certain time.

Such a shame.

That was key for me for awhile as well plus not hitting snooze a million times. I also had all my clocks set ahead by 10-15 min so I wouldn't run late, but as of last year they were all set to normal time since I don't have that issue anymore.
