Sure enough, Comb and Formant filters.
But also 6 stomp-box effects, and arp modulation. Niice

Ooh I was right about the guitar FX. Nice ears on the filters whoever first said that.

They even use the VSTi in all their video demos. WTF. Why have the hardware at all? It's just a giant dongle. Their next step should be to just give up and release a PCI card... ridiculous...

Weird that they added the new filters to the frequency shifter section...

Arp modulation is a very welcome addition - that will probably be my most-used feature. I still wish they'd give you the ability to copy/paste arp patterns.

Actually that makes sense since shifting frequencies is essentially what a formant filter has to do to emulate vowels. Also, the beauty of using it as an insert effect is that it allows you to still use the 2 main filters to their full capacity. Big thumbs up!

Its much easier for demonstration purposes to show us the vsti so we can clearly see exactly what he's doing as he speaks. It would be difficult to see the LCD screen on the unit in the video so I dont see a problem with how they've done it.

Agreed. In the case of the arp, I typically work with that solely in VST mode - trying to edit it from the front panel is a PITA (as are most hardware arps/step sequencers).

You actually can't create custom ARP patterns without using the plugin. Or at least you couldn't last I checked a couple years ago. I just hate the idea of buying a big expensive hardware box to use a VSTi. It makes no sense!

I guess you can use the knobs for simple things like filterns and envelopes, but, still, it just bugs the crap out of me that they have completely forgotten the hardware and concentrate on the plugin so much. They didn't redesign the interface a single bit with the TI2.

Now that you mention it, I think you're right. I tend to avoid programming sequences/arps on most hardware, including DSI, Nord, etc. if I have the option of using an editor.

Why don't you just put arp patterns in the piano roll instead? Much more control that way.

Or is that what you're talking about?

I do that as well in many situations, but you obviously can't store that pattern with a patch. A lot of times, I will get a sound going that I like, then start going through some of the arp patterns looking for ideas. More often than not, I'll find something close to what I'm looking for in the arp patterns, but the VST doesn't display the pattern or allow you to copy it to the user slot for editing, so you have to figure it out manually.

It would be a nice time-saver if the VST would allow you to just copy the presets (and user) patterns, or at least display the pattern to make manually copying it to the user slot for a starting point that much quicker. It would just improve workflow and it's not a deal-breaker by any means, but I do use the Virus' arp a lot and would really like to see that implemented in a future OS.
